You Voted. She Painted. This Pro’s Entry Is Now Leafy Green
A designer recently invited Houzz users to choose the new color for her home’s entry. See how the new paint looks
I recently asked Houzz readers to help me choose a new color for my home’s entryway and stairs. It was time to repaint and although I still liked the original bright blue-green color, I was ready for something new.
After almost 2,000 votes, leafy green edged out electric coral for the win.
Here’s the finished result. The closest match to the leafy green color shown in the rendering is Blooming Grove by Benjamin Moore.
Here’s a paint swatch of Blooming Grove, left, and similar vibrant leafy green hues: Asparagus by PPG Paints, Overt Green by Sherwin-Williams and Fresh Apple by Behr.
This is a good time and place to point out that the colors we see on our screens may not be an exact match to the actual color or colors. Therefore it’s important to use paint color samples in or on your home to make sure your chosen color is what you were expecting.

Here I am over the weekend of Aug. 1 getting started on the first coat of paint for the door frame. Because I was painting over an existing painted surface that was in really good shape, I opted not to use a primer, and I only needed to apply two coats of paint.
But if the surface had not been previously painted, or had been patched or repaired in any places, I would have first applied at least one coat of primer. Also, if I was making a drastic change of color, say from red to green or vice versa, I would have applied a tinted primer first to reduce the number of coats of paint needed.
Your painting contractor will know if and what kind of primer is needed for your project.

Here’s a view of the finished entry. I’ve received lots of compliments from neighbors and passersby, so it seems to be a hit in the neighborhood. Thank you for helping me select this winning hue!
