I like to use Sherwin Williams Pro mar 400. It’s a white paint that contrasts a wood
floor and gives an overall clean airy ambiance.

I love a grayed green for wall color so neutral and not BEIGE.I like Rain washed cut 25% or any other color in that palette . It looks great with white trim and wood floors not IMO as boring as just white walls but still really neutral

You are right, computers are tough. Alabaster is a great color. SW has a new color named Natural Choice, but may be a bit too yellow.

You mentioned cream/beige...check Ben Moore's Winds Breath (a warm-ish greige) and Maritime White. Canvas Tan from Sherwin Wms can be nice, too. It's similar to Maritime White but a bit darker.

Any thoughts on using a color like healing aloe BM in a room like this? Or should I stay in the cream/brown family since the kitchen has those colors?

the aloe would be nice. Here's the others it goes with...and some others that go well w/oak flooring

I love BM colors, but one nice thing about SW is they sell quart size cans. If you love a color and test it on a poster board and check it throughout the day yet feel it's a bit too dark or light they can darken or lighten a bit by taking the can back up and explaining how much lighter you may want it. This can't be done with the tiny samples such as the big box stores offer or they won't reproduce to gallon sizes in the true color that you've lightened or darkened such as in a quart size will reproduce.

I don't like that BM doesn't have samples which makes it a bit more difficult unless you are very familiar with the colors. Colors can look different in so many different rooms and lighting. I do gravitate toward BM, but............ No samples, at least where I am in the world.

Porter,,I get samples from BM. never heard of them not giving samples. And they're pint size too. cost about 7 bucks.

Same for me here. Some of the BM stores carry sample size and some do not.

I would try to match the cream in the kitchen. After you have painted the space, don't forget you can add color with artwork, cushions, area rug, plants, etc. Definitely go the the paint store with a piece of the counter if you have it. If not, try to find paint chips that look like they might be the same and take them home to examine with counter in various lights. The lights throughout the space will affect color as will sunlight and overcast days. Adding colors with artwork and furnishings works very well and can be changed if you get tired of them much more easily than painting the room. If you are hiring a painter, I strongly recommend that you either buy the paint yourself or pick it out at the store and have the painter pick it up.

I spent a lot of time picking out my color a very pale subtle gray, , painting large swatches on the walls, etc. only to have the painter pick out the wrong one. I gave him the name and the number of my choice and still he made a mistake. I

I did not discover this until he had done 3/4 of the job. Am now repainting three main walls because my artwork does not work with the gray he chose.
