Actually I am so glad you mentioned color. I ordered white dove and mocha cherry. I got the samples last night. I honestly thought the white looked whiter but then I thought it was the night time lighting and didn't really think about it. When I saw you said yours was oatmeal I looked at it and saw the white dove also which is definitely creamier. Turns out the sample I got is actually essential white (WAY more white like a bright light. I thought maybe I had lost my mind but I knew I had really liked it when I was selecting!!!). Phew. So I really did order white dove, which is a bit whiter than oatmeal but definitely not a bright white. Sorry to derail this. But thank you!!!

My intent was to paint before the flooring is in so I can take advantage of the furniture being out of the room (my husband will not be down for helping me move it all out of the room twice), and also it would just be nice to not have to worry about covering the flooring in order to paint. I considered painting AFTER the flooring is done, before the furniture is moved back into the room, but then I'm starting all over again with paint color options & the pressure to get it all done so our bedroom is functional again. :) I really didn't want to go with white in this room, and the current color is too yellow for my taste, so I've been trying to find a tan-ish color that keeps it neutral but doesn't go yellow. Totally open to paint suggestions & the bedding isn't something that can't be changed. For reference: PO - Pale Oak RP - Revere Pewter AG - Agreeable Gray

Did you decide on a sofa?? We purchased two sofas and two chairs from Crate & Barrel almost 15 years ago and they have held up beautifully! We do have children and one small dog, so they get a LOT of use, and I'm still so pleased with the purchase! Ours are slipcovered. In the next year, I'm going to replace the cushions and the slip covers. In the past few years I've purchased a few sofas from Pottery Barn for other rooms in our home and they do not compare to the C&B pieces. I wish I had done C&B for everything.

What is the color palette for your home? I love teal greens and have them throughout my home. I used BM Quiet Moments in my in my bathroom and SW Silver mist in my guest bedroom, but those colors worked with the teal green slate tiles in my foyer and the teal green in my area rug in my living room. Those colors work with the smoky purples and taupes that are in the rest of my home. My sister's color palette is more fall colors, with olive greens and burnt orange and golds. Teal would look out of place in her home. Selecting colors one room at a time can leave us with a home that lacks harmony instead of rooms that speak to one another and feel like one cohesive plan. Here are some sample whole home color palettes. The colors you have chosen work well with most colors. The grays are very cool, clean grays, so you have to watch for some colors looking a bit too muddy or dirty next to them, but most green grays will go fine. Here is a photo from BM showcasing October Mist with cool grays. It wouldn't work in my house, but would work very well in my sister's home.
