I would go with them rather than paint/glaze them. Are the tiles only on the floor? If so you have a lot of options. The navy will make the pink stand out more, and that might work. Gray, although I am not fond of gray, looks good with pink. I have seen many baths with pink tiles and the walls and accessories are all white; it is a very soft look. I would find a paint chip (card) that most closely matches the pink and use it to look for wallpaper/paint samples.

I did see those retro websites, Olychick, I am not a big fan of the decor ideas they have, with the floral wallpapers, etc. But I will look at the other ideas, there are many, thanks! writersblock, this isn't my bathroom, I have the exact same tiles, but only on the floor. But you are right, I need to embrace it! reorah, all these comments have only cemented my resolve to work with what I have, and to use the charm of the existing tiles to make the bath unique!

I think gray or navy would look great with your tile. I'm a fan of bold wallpaper, but maybe that's not you. I love some of these:

Love the existing tiles and agree that that room is screaming for some fabulous wall paper. It's almost like the pink tiles are a license to really go for it.

Oh wow ... sea green sink and pink tile has "1930s Miami Beach" all over it.

I would paint the walls a very pale pink and hang a flamingo tropical poster in there.

not only the tiles are actually very cool, but I also talked to my GC about paiinting ours in one space(unlike yours, nothing cool about them) and he said he doesn't recommend it-not a long-lasting solution.

Lots of colors go with peach. You could even do tan, brown, straw, etc. neutrals and nature themed. Does not have to be "out there" bold unless you like that.

Don't change the tile! Navy would look great. I would do a retro hawaii/tropical theme.

The grey and white with pink is calm, a neutral scheme that is easy to work with. I like that one.

B/c I gravitate towards obsessive, I'd probably hunt for blue sink and toilet. Could be vintage or could be modern for an unexpected touch

there is nothing wrong w/green, nothing at all. It's just that when olychick posted navy blue wallpaper, I immediately fell in love. And for a half bathroom? Just the place to take risks (says the woman w/ a very conventional powder room)

I just painted my powder room dark blue. Love it.

I would change the countertop to a white abstract linen look laminate and a white 50's ish look sink. Then, decorate with these colors.

Ahhh you are right, sorry! The actual bathroom, layout etc is nothing like mine. I just meant the tiles are like that. Sorry!! I like the black and white too.

The actual pictures look a little more of any earthy pink than the "birthday pink" of the sample photo in the beginning. Is the baseboard tile around the perimeter a darker color than the floor?

OK, now I see your original post says "the floor", so not the wall tile. Now, you can still add the colored wall tile if you want since you have so many good suggestions here. :) But I think the suggestions here would still apply.

Still trying to see if I can talk DH into renovating our bathroom this summer with color tile. He does not want to remove the tub and go with a shower pan. I don't think we'd do pink, but we might do yellow and black or black and white. Not that he doesn't like the pink, it's the bathroom he uses on a regular basis.

It is funny to me that when we first bought this house a few months ago DH hated the hall bathroom. now he likes it. go figure.

B & W Tile in Gardena, CA is one of the few places that makes a Mid-Century looking tile in the right sort of pink.

The problem now is that nobody really makes colored fixtures to go with the pink tile. Kohler killed off all their colors by 2012 and now their colors are shades of beige or grey (incl. black).

The problem, in my eyes is that only black or white is really strong enough to work with the pink, somehow the greys don't quite hold up well with the pink--the vintage looking greys are a bit too light. (Believe me I tried. I wanted a pink bathroom in this house but I wasn't ready by 2012.)

Sus Cyr, the vivid, bright pink wallpapers you posted up-thread will only make the tile look like a sickly fleshy tan. I agree with others that you need the paler colors or contrasting colors with that particular pink.

I think your tile is a little more 1980s grey-mauve or dusty rose, rather than mid-century pink.

I think you will need to use very soft greyed colors with this tile to make it hold it's color rather than starting to look sickly.

I am a broken record about this, but I LOVE Benjamin Moore Ice Cap with my pinky-beige bathroom tile. So much so that I might not even want to redo my bathroom after all... and that's saying something! If we do redo the bathroom, I'm thinking about finding the same color tiles again. (Definitely replacing the vanity someday, though!)
