-are you going to paint the desk, or love as is? asking to understand whether you love olive (or is it avocado?) green -would you rather paint the breakfront unless concern for authenticity? it might be added later. looks nice. '67 is still era of stained..at least as much as I know. Others here will know better. frankly I'd leave stained..even if I didn't like it..somebody lazy like me would just find the right knobs..if you love green-say something green..strong..geometric..or white..or white and green..and bigger than current one. I think it will look cool with bolder, bigger knobs. The current ones are too small, don't do it justice. (the knobs can be bold flowers too..or owls:) but your choice of the sectional suggests you like geometry more..am I right? I might be very easily wrong though) lots of knobs on Etsy. I even found several for you. but afraid to post it:) since I'm not sure of your preferences yet. and then I'd fill it with things I love and make it work another option-to try and change the stain if you actively dislike it. Hard to see what wood it is..if walnut I'd leave as is for sure. but I can't tell from the pics

Remove the meatballs and amateur garden center retaining walls in favor of one single low horizontal retaining wall. Pick a material that relates to the exterior choices. Matching brick if you could. Cot-ten steel possibly. The wall should have a decent horizontal space between it and the street where some larger scaled pots and concrete jigsaw puzzle blocking “garden” with some heavy “sculptures” can shine. Look at the standard blockade pot planting’s meant to keep vehicles from ramming public buildings. You will need an expert to design this, and implement it. Maybe Phase 1 is Design, and Phase 2 is Implement. The smaller space between the top of the wall and building can be actual planting’s, but mostly drought resistant grasses and maybe some very low growing junipers. The building is a STAR, and needs to be more revealed than hidden by landscaping. Also think about a rooftop terrace and garden if it’s flat. Would be cool to see a hint of green in the sky peeking over like a secret paradise.

There is no reason why you couldn't use mid century modern furniture in this home. Some of the most stunning homes have some mix of styles. If you had a Victorian home with a ton of ornate scroll work and Tiffany stained glass windows Mid Century furniture wouldn't work, but rustic, farmhouse, shaker, industrial all blend beautifully with the clean lines of Mid Century Modern furniture.

Ethan, I need help understanding what you are trying to do. You have a MCM bathroom vanity. You love the MCM style and want to continue it. So you already have what you want. What is it that you mean when you say "update"? To me, "update" means changing from an older style to a newer style, like abandoning MCM for contemporary. And I don't think that's what you mean. Do you perhaps mean "refresh", as in repairing and replacing worn fixtures and surfaces? Or, in your case light fixtures and faucets. To stay with MCM, just try to get replacements that match what you have as closely as possible.
