Thank you Mamapinky. I was hoping you would answer. No I didn't get burned. It was strange, I took a sip and it kind of splattered over my shirt and pants. Just tiny little drops. I am forever ruining clothing, but since hanging out in the Laundry Room I have been doing much better at saving some items. Ok I will soak them right now till tomorrow in Oxi. Should I also add some detergent? I often don't even see the spills till it's too late, at least I know what I did this time.

Another question if you don't mind. I wore a bright pink tee yesterday and I went to wash it today and found purple stains on the bottom. Here's a picture

Any help in how to treat this? I would soak it in Oxi even if it changes color as long as the color is even. I feel like I need a bib like a baby. I love summer clothes but am always staining them. And I refuse to wear stained clothes.

Mamapinky, I was wondering if I should also use a stain stick. I have Resolve Stain Remover, which sometimes helps, but not always.

Oxi could fade it and it most likely won't be even. Lol..try soaking it in cool water with plain laundry detergent.

Those stain stick can fade poly fabrics at least that is what I've found to happen

Yes, I have seen poly fade. I have used the stain stick on underarm deodorant build up on my work blouses and two faded. Better faded than dirty. Lol.

It might be FS, I never thought of that. I was mixing a little last night with water (as learned here at the Laundry Room) and right after changed my clothes, so I didn't notice. I put stain stick on it and have it soaking in a cool water bath.

Another stain question. What would you use to take baby oil out of tencel fabric. I use baby oil or mineral oil to take off my eye make-up and also to moisturize my legs and I got some on my dark blue PJ's. I used Dawn, soaked in cool water and washed in hot. Well the stains faded a little and the Dawn lightened the surrounding fabric. Not a big deal as only I see my PJ's but for next time what would you suggest?

Tencel is a speciality fabric that I know almost nothing about, some garments made with Tencel or Lyocell are washable but read your label because some are dry clean only. I do think stain removers are to be avoided. Maybe Poppy will read this as she's sure to know what to do. I do know its an attractive fabric for pj's.

Oh I wash these PJ's on hot all the time. I have little time for fabrics I can't wash. I even wash my cashmere in the machine and no shrinkage. They are old and soft and even with stains I won't give them up. Thank you for all your help.

That purple stain looks like detergent. What did you wash that pink tee in?

Littlegreeny I washed it in powdered Ariel. However I didn't have the stain all day. I saw it in the morning when I sorted the laundry. I was doing a load of whites the night before when wearing the tee. I used All Free and Clear with Bleach Alternative and Suavitel Fabric Softener. I have the tee soaking in cool water and I put a stain stick on the spots. The water didn't seem soapy and no bubbles, so I wonder what it is. I'll rinse it out in the sink and them wash it this afternoon. I will report back if the stain comes out. I will not dry in the dryer. Thank you for assistance.

If its FS...just wet it and rub in some liquid detergent and wash as normal. FS usually washes out.

I agree with Mama that it's a fabric softener stain. A powder detergent wouldn't cause a stain like that.

Of course I had been very busy and unable to wash the pants. Well, as soon as I walked in the door today I ran a load that include my pants, several pair of white socks two tiny white washcloths and then sat down with a nice cup of tea. Then I went to take a shower. Yuck the water was brown. I live in NYC with some of the best quality water in the world and I had just drank a cup of tea made with this water and washed my favorite pants in brown water. I feel like these pants are cursed, never mind I drank that water. I live in a multi family building and the building may have turned off the water to fix a plumbing issue which usually results in brown water for less than a minute but the water is not running clear. I can't rewash the pants and I cant take a shower. When the water is clear again I will wash in cold water and hope for the best. Sorry I just needed to rant.
