FAN CLUB: Books over 500 pages

Pity the poor ol' doorstop. These days, we have tablets and phones and e-readers and Netflix and the zoom, zoom, zoom of daily life. Who has time to read those massive books anymore?

I do. I'm a fan. There is nothing like sinking your teeth into a truly epic book, one that takes its time with the story and keeps your interest page, after page, after page.

Over at the "under-rated" thread, we got to discussing a wee bit how long books do not always get the accolades they may deserve simply because not many folks make the time to truly become engrossed in a big brick of a book.

So that led to this idea; a thread where we can share those great long epic books that we read and have earned a special spot in our reading hearts.

Do you have any 500+ page books that you would put on a "best of the best" list to share with us?

I'll list a few to get started.

  1. David Copperfield, Charles Dickens

2. The Agony and the Ecstasy, Irving Wallace

  1. 1421, the Year China Discovered America, Gavin Menzies

4. A Free Life, Ha Jin

5. The Book Thief, Markus Zusak

6. The Sea, the Sea, Iris Murdoch
