And registering to vote was so easy this year! Last year I never succeeded at all despite several attempts. In addition there was a scandal about nominated books that were said to have been omitted to please the sponsoring country's government. It seems so peaceful this year.
Here is a list of the nominees for Best Novel. I won't bother listing any of the other categories, because this is the one that gets the most attention. I will probably vote in two or three other categories. There is a lot going on in our lives right now so I'm not sure how much time I will have.
Best Novel
- The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty
- The Saint of Bright Doors by Vajra Chandrasekera
- Some Desperate Glory by Emily Tesh
- Starter Villain by John Scalzi
- Translation State by Ann Leckie
- Witch King by Martha Wells
I had already read Starter Villain and Translation State, both of which I enjoyed. Now I am about to start Witch King. Its author Martha Wells writes the Murderbot books, but this one looks more like some of her earlier work.
