NEW: All My Bloomin' Friends Seed Swap-April
Comments (98)Hello ladies and...too bad no gents here. I don't remember. DID we ever have any gentlemen sign up for our bigger group? Anyway...I DO DIgress, eh? UPDATE: Carrie Ann, I received your package today. Thank you for the yummy smelling vanilla bean simmering waffle bar. I like the smell of vanilla VERY much. Thank you also for the very pretty wind chimes. Pink with silver etching--just beautiful. I didn't put them out today after school, though, as the wind was reeealy blowing, and I was afraid something would happen to them. I will see what tomorrow holds. I googled the brodiaea Queen Fabiola bulbs that you sent. I was really clueless.(what's new sometimes) They look like my favorite color of blue!!! THANK you! I esPECially loved your letter. So newsy and sweet. Plus a nice selection of seeds to divide between our friends. Beth, your seeds are here, too, along with a number of fulfilled wishes. I want to thank you for the darling little soft brown puppy with the dark brown ears and wearing BUNNY EARS! It is so darn cute! Poor thing is trying to lug around this clear carrot filled with jelly bean eggs. Patty, I forgot to thank you for the seeds that you sent to me-tall green nicotiana and milk chocolate foxglove. I am absolutely THRILLED!!! As I have said to the rest of you, I think you will also be happy when you see what seeds you will be getting, too. Since this thread is so close to 100, I believe I will be starting back at 1 sometime this evening. I need to compose a new intro. then I will post a list of who is in the seed swap along with whose seeds have arrived here and who has yet to send. See you elsewhere! Comments (18)Hi everybody. Kathy, yes, I want to get my little plants into the ground, but I'll have to wait a while longer---may have killed my squash plant. I need to check on him.lol Gals, I'm in a rather bad mood today! I think it's just too much "togetherness" with my DH. I love the guy, but... I need some time for myself. Know what I mean? I'm going into MY room, which is actually the dining room where I have a computer in an armoire and some of my things in a file cabinet, some books, etc.-----and chill out in MY ROOM---ALL ALONE. Walked this morning, had toast and turkey bacon and some apple butter --yum yum. Okay. I had a real egg. I'm bad. Haven't had lunch yet. McPeg, I love those flavored waters. I've tried doing some of my own flavorings, but they just don't taste as good as the store-bought kind. Peach is my favorite. Take care, all. I've got a ton to do, we haven't decided yet if everyone's coming here for Easter dinner or we're going to a lodge or something. I may vote "lodge." They have a nice buffet dinner and then we usually walk, tour, etc. Lodge, I say. Lodge! PS This year, after seeing the movie "Passion of the Christ" I just don't feel right about doing the Easter bunny thingy ( and I love bunnies and stuff) so I'm thinking about instead doing some cookies in the shape of fish and having a story with each person's gift about the resurrection and how Jesus met with Peter and other deciples along the sea and they ate fish and talked before he ascended to heaven. A celebration without bunnies. I wish there was a separate spring holiday with bunnies and stuff---aside from Easter. Oh, well. Traditions are sometimes hard to break. I'll have to find a low-fat cookie recipe 'cause I know I'll want to eat a few....See MoreSan Antonio Spring 2019 Plant Swap, April 13
Comments (106)Ok plant swap nutters, FYI, mike asked the ICSA (Islamic center of San Antonio) On Fairhaven/Datapoint of wurzbach if any future plant swaps could be held there. They gave permission to use the picnic area tables and benches that are under some trees but no pavilion incase of rain storm however people can use the school cafeteria for the swap if the weather is bad. There is also bathroom facilities in the cafeteria. The cafeteria is a singular mobile home type building which is next to the picnic area with ample parking spots. There is no fee and usually there is no school activities going on Saturday between 9am and 12noon. We just have to make sure the place is left clean after the swap. Mike will take some pictures of the place and we will post it here if people decide to take the offer....See MoreThe Merry Month of May ... what are you reading?
Comments (114)I finished Dear Fahrenheit 451, Love and Heartbreak in the Stacks by Annie Spense. On the cover: A Librarian's love letters and breakup notes to the books in her life. Rather a silly premise but a fun read. Before that I read The Feather Thief by Kirk Wallace Johnson. I loved this. It's a true crime story of a 20 year old professional flautist who robs the British Museum of Natural History, taking 299 bird skins that date back to Darwin times. He then plans to sell them to professional and hobbyist fly-tiers for fishing and competition purposes. Not to diminish the import of the crimes, it was very funny in many spots. There was a well done section dedicated to natural history which makes me want to pull Origin of Species off the TBReR shelf if I can locate it. This one makes it into my top five lifetimes reads. If you like natural history, fly-fishing, quirky crimes or just an entertaining story, you're apt to like this. I couldn't put it down and am looking to buy a copy for my own Library....See Morecarolyn_ky
