The Hoya End Game Boss

Once I came up with this analogy I couldn't let it go even though I figured everyone would think I was on crack. /sadtruck I can't narrow my bosses down yet, so I guess maybe I don't know my endgame boss. Maybe my endgame boss is to outwit Mike in a battle of knowledge. Or to see more Hoyas in the wild than Ted Green. Or to get a carnosa cutting to bloom faster than Pepueve. Or to have more springtime blooms than Pug and David combined. (Okay now I'm just making myself laugh) For now my regular boss fights are: 1. Get one of the campanulate Hoyas to root (danumensis/wallichi/campanulata/cystiantha). Blashernaezii and siariae give me bonus points but no win. Give rooted plants away to everyone I know. 2. Obtain both of the Lata Iskandars! 3. Have 100% rooting success for 1 full year. 4. Get pottsii 0022 to bloom. 5. Grow something mounted and make it look effortless. 6. Have no "problem plants." Comments (10)jrldh - we wanted to just go with the extra tall basement (my husband is a high school bball coach and my boys play all the time...we thought it would be perfect to do a couple hoops in the basement). But, we weren't able to put the house down that low, with the water table so high and drainage issue, the engineers wouldn't go for anything lower than 4' below grade level (for bottom of foundation)and they wouldn't go for crushed conrete (which is much less expensive then the gravel we had to use). Our footprint is over 3200 sq ft....the french drain is about 3' below the bottom of the basement, and in many cases we have 8 ft deep of gravel. We also had additional expenses that were our choice. For example, we had increased concrete expenses bc we never intended to excavate the entire basement. But, because the house was going to sit up 5ft above grade level, and we were not budging on giving up the kitchen walkout (I do not like basement walkouts), we had to build everything up. So, that lead to grading plan changes also. And, the planned partial foundation walls turned to full height, the porches all needed foundation walls, and the garage is now a structural slab...in general, it was a painful ripple effect to get the house how we wanted it. Comments (12)April, so good to hear from you. If it helps, I think we are living parallel lives in a way. I am also dealing with elder care stuff with my mom while managing some health issues of my own. Isn’t life fun sometimes? My friends keep telling me that I have to care for myself first.
