What are you watching in April and beyond?
Comments (53)The final season of Bloodline will be released on Netflix on May 26th. Peaky Blinders is in production, I don't expect it until the end of the year. I caught up on Mr. Robot on my flight to Paris two weeks ago and watched a few eps of Brooklyn Nine Nine on the way home. I'm in the middle of Chewing Gum, Travelers, and the Dave Chappelle specials. Bosch is up next (probably this weekend), then Dear White People. I have a slew of foreign police procedurals in the queue, but really want another season of Happy Valley. Shots Fired and Gotham on the DVR. Call the Midwife is a must see for me each week, as is Home Fires. Sadly, only two seasons of Home Fires, the one currently airing on PBS is the last. The Bletchley Circle is also very good....See MoreCan we do another "what-are-you-watching" thread?
Comments (101)I too sort of liked Virgin River. Formulaic but not too bad, at least the woman doctor isn't insipid. I have watched the Kominsky Method both season twice. There is a poignancy there that speaks to me. Watched "Gentification" this weekend and loved it. It's more than half in Spanish with subtitles but takes place in the US/Los Angeles Boyle neighborhood. That didn't bother me. I found its message about struggling as an artist/creator and trying to keep neighborhood traditions alive in changing economic times very relatable even for me in a small midwestern town. A tad stereotypical, but what TV isn't a tad stereotypical. Pick your poison. Bear in mind this is just my .02, but I loathe "Mrs. Maisel" let me count the ways. Sophomoric is one that comes to mind. Great eye candy but oh so Disneyfied do don't call it ground breaking. And as a Jew, I find it a terribly insulting lame self-parody, and that's being kind. No reflection on the talent in the show though. My grandkids turned me on to "Stranger Things." So far so good but I'm not very far into it. For sci fi fans mostly though. I gravitate towards escapist things with a strong dose of humor but I'm always down for a little genuine pathos, but not ones that make me gag at their pretensions....See MoreWhat are you watching?
Comments (24)Lololol, thanks everyone, you've given me a few new things to add to my list and mentioned a few things I haven't watched in a while and will go back and watch again. I'm reminded of a meme I saw a while back that I can't find at the moment. The gist of it was "what should I watch??" All the new options, too many options so we end up resorting back to binge watching things we've already seen. My go to has always been Star Trek, particularly Star Trek Voyager or The Next Generation or Stargate SG-1 (notice a theme?) I cringe now when I think about the fact that I spent over 700 dollars to purchase all the seasons of Star Trek Voyager on disc before streaming was a thing and hundreds of dollars on Stargate as well. I still have the discs but I never need to use them anymore, it's all available for free through various streaming services that I already subscribe to. Go figure....See MoreWhat are you watching on TV?
Comments (44)I seem to be the odd one here. Supernatural is my go-to comfort background noise. I have started watching VanHelsing, American Horror Story (had to skip Season 2 - it was too much for me), Deputy, sometimes Midsomer Murders and plenty of youtube craft videos. Just downloaded the app for Curiosity Stream but haven't begun watching anything yet. I use a Roku, have Netflix and Hulu and Amazon Prime, no cable or antenna....See Morechisue
