I suggest you start with a rug on the floor to set the color scheme & work with that to add some life to the area. The green of your home is avery complementary color to the bamboo furniture.

Then leave the walls green except for the shorter wall next to the tiki bar. Paint that an accent color pulled from the rug you select. Here are two outdoor rug options that would really brighten up the area. If you buy them in polypropylene, they will take the chlorine & the sun.

Change out the lantern on the back wall, swag interesting pendant lights over the bar and add some additional bamboo furniture to replace the black steel furniture and you're done.

If the furniture is in good shape, you could paint it. Painter's tape and spray paint can do wonders.

I'd consider pulling your cooler under the cover -- both for some eye catching color and because getting it out of the sun will keep things colder longer. Would it fit in the back right corner?

I think I would want to paint the short wall and also at least the back wall too-- maybe the entire recessed area...

I would try a lighter brighter green which looks really nice with the rest of your exterior, but lighter, brighter and more vibrant. something similar to the green in the chevron rug above, but maybe something that would be alittle less jarring against the darker green of your exterior... I think a rug like the one above that ties in the darker siding, the lighter green and the pool is the way to go!!

Good suggestions. About that cooler..it's in that spot because I was draining it. That is where my pool drain is. I normally have it rolled under the lanai under the open aired blocks. I am selling the metal furniture (including my beloved Salterini chairs) The salt air and salt from the pool is too tough on them. They were all recently resprayed and we still have issues. We're going to recycled plastic/resin.

I keep alternating between painting the back wall and using a colorful wall hanging. Normally, I would keep the house color the same, but this is one place where I think it might make a lot of sense to change color and do an accent wall or niche. If you paint that wall lighter and brighter, then you might not need to change the color of the table and chairs.

That turquoise/pool color from the rug or a limier green. Love that patio. It's going to be a fun space.

I found the green wavy inspiration rug. It's looped. I went that route inside and my dogs ruined it within a couple weeks. I will have to keep looking for something flat and colorful that I can hose off frequently. I would also add that I can only have a plug in type swag light above the bar. That patio roof/pool cage roof has solar panels on it & we don't want to drill into it. Love these ideas!

Then you could get a raffia table skirt for the bar

A Hawaiian print rug

A wall mounted light that seems more Tiki like.

I also think peach walls would be nice. Just on the back wall

I really appreciate all the input! I am leaning toward the more MCM look. What about this rug? It has all the accent colors I am thinking of for accent paint & would not show dirt.

Love your floral rug idea. If you want to go with the tiki theme, I'd do it in such a way that it's almost over the top. takes it from tacky to fun. the rug is a good start.

I think you should get whatever rug you like, without giving it a label. It does not have to be MCM or Tiki. I like the brown rug but I also like the flowered rug. Your indecision seems to rise from thinking any element must be confined to a theme.

like the floral- the colors will look nice with the siding, but I personally would hesitate getting anything with much white unless it cleaned nicely and easily when hosed off... but, I might live a lot dirtier than others!! (have big dogs:)
