IMO when spaces are all open to eachother different wall colors all over are confusing and honestly not a good plan Your furniture designates the spaces and add your color with those pieces rather than a mish mash of wall color . Art , rugs pillows all add color easily when walls are all the same My issue would be why the TV above the FP when you have a huge empty wall where it could go I often just ignore corner FPs thay are always a PITA to arrange furniture with them . I think the sectional is the wrong choice for the space but that is a differnt issue. Drapes need to go to the floor or be replaced with a roman shade for sure .I agree the DR is awful but you will need to find out what is load bearing and what is not . Then the issue can be solved .This is a new to you space so slow down and see how the spaces all function before anything done at all. IMO dealing with the DR will open up a big can of worms and drive all the other work needed so stop and get your priorites figured out . I would deal with the DR, then the flooring and then wall color .

I agree with the FP and Tv…but hubby wanted it there. I agree with the sectional also and will be replacing with a couch and a coupling accent chairs soon. So you think I should keep the color? Any suggestions on what to do with the DR? Would you put half wal lup? Close off one side? Any suggestions on the flooring? Thank you for your opinions, any help is appreciated!

Your space already looks busy, different wall colors would make it look chaotic. I agree with Patricia that adding color with your decor -rugs, pillows, art - is a better solution.

Your wall color is fine, a creamy white would make the space look fresh but not sure if it would be big enough of a difference to justify the expense of painting. Your floor looks fine in the pictures, what don't you like about it?

When you decorate, think about making the space attractive at the people level. When there are high ceilings people think they need to decorate up. If you fully decorate the people level, then the high ceilings look airy and not bare.

For instance, your art needs to be moved to eye level and you need some people-level lighting. Floor lamps or some end tables with lamps. The shadows from overhead lighting can make a space look like an office.

I would paint the walls a nice clear creamy color. The color on the walls now, appears to be a muddy color, and to me, muddy colors are very depressing. I like the arches, and I would work with them, rather than against them. Like the others, that tv, needs to go down on a stand on the wall, and nice art put on the fireplace. Someone will end up with neck problems, with that tv up there, besides the fact, that it doesnt look good there. A couch and a couple of chairs might work better, but, you can work with the sectional. A nice rug, and nice art on the wall, and some pillows on the couch with some color. You also could use a coffee table, and hopefully, you can squeeze in a floor lamp on the far corner of the couch next to the wall. Your light bulbs could possibly be contributing to the muddy look of the paint. Unless paint is really needed, I would change out all those light bulbs to led 3500 daylight type bulbs, to get rid of the yellow lighting you have. You may just find that it is enough, to brighten the room up a lot. Include bulb replacement in the kitchen, and the dining room, and hallway too.

Because your space is open your choices are going to have to work with the warmth of the kitchen cabinets and the fireplace. It will help make your space look more cohesive. Cool blues and grays can work in warm spaces but it is a much harder look to pull off

Look what happens to the room when you add a rug with some warmer colors to your tv room.

I don't think the layout for the area works. I would use this as an alternate plan.
