Please help me pick a color for trim for my house
Comments (16)I'm with Les on ' don't bother with improving for appraisal' -- except where lack of maintenance shows. Thus peeling paint on the trim needs to be cleaned up so do the 'white thing' just to tidy for now. The area in front of the brick porch wall needs tidying - perhaps buy another small bush or three for that area and trim the bush to the right in the pic. Any other areas which aren't clean and tidy (not meaning mag picture perfect - just clean and tidy) need addressing for appraisal purposes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there was a prior post on possible improvements for this home, with some photoshopping and suggestions of beefing up the columns and like that?? So OP is looking for trim color suggestion not general improvement suggestions? So basically answer to question would be paint trim white (good base for future color choices) and clean, tidy & scrub for appraisal purposes. Comments (1)^I like the color combos above with your brick. I also like the front door that apple green surrounded by white. The gray siding would go nicely with your roof and brick. I would use the gray on all of your siding excluding the brick (naturally). Paint your garage door the same gray so it recedes. Consider substantially trimming back your landscaping before you paint so you can see the house....See MoreHelp me pick a paint color for my new home
Comments (5)How do you feel about all the applied trim? For my taste, there is too much of it, it's just picturing framing, and if you look at your photo, one side of the staircase has a low chair rail; the the other side had a. higher chair rail and the "paneling" doesn't line up. That would annoy me and I would remove it all. It is taking away from the beautiful staircase, which is the focal point of the entry. If you don't want to remove it, I would paint right over all of it. Color: I have Revere Pewter in in the living/dining/hallway, all open to each other. I really like it, lived with it for 8 years, not tired of it and it works with just about everything. The other paint color you may want to consider is Collingwood, as it is a bit lighter. Then there is all white...can't go wrong there. Put your color in the rug, upholstery, drapes. This is White Dove....See Moreplease help me pick a roof for my new home!!!
Comments (7)Sorry but budget is tight and this is the house you are building? There are shingles that have the look of cedar shakes . Where I live cedar shakes are not a good idea since there go up in flames quickly in forest fire areas. I think the house is quite lovely I sure would not add window boxes or cedar trim anywhere . I do not think gutters are decor elements and where exactly are they on the house IMO the pic you post is the way I would do the house it is always IMO best to keep exteriors simple and let the style of the house be the star. I think with that stone a gray for the roof but I see 3 different stones on my monitor so which one....See MoreVirgil Carter Fine Art
