Comments (100)Hi All, Worked in the greenhouse today. Had to spray everything. The aphids are getting bad. Ricky...I can tell you from personal experience it is very difficult to take in a teenager, especially one that the parents are having difficulty dealing with. I don't know that is the case here but I have taken in family members on several occassions and for me it didn't work out. I naively thought if I set ground rules, let them know they were loved, and tried to be involved in what they were doing, and consistent with praise and discipline, that everything would turn out okay. I'm sorry to say that wasn't what happened. But your circumstances may be different. I too praise your desire to help and hope that it does turn out great for your nephew. I ordered from Bluegrass again and they do have a 20% down layaway plan with the rest due in the spring before shippment. They charge $6.00 for the 1st 4 fans (2 DL's)and .25 for every fan after that for shipping. So if you're only planning on ordering 1 or 2 DL's it may not be worthwhile, but after I saw how many daylilies they had at 3.00 each, the shipping was not a problem. Let them know I referred you maybe I'll get a daylily as a bonus. I got a bonus last time I ordered from them, it was their 2004 intro. daylily "Galaxy Explosion". I don't know if they give bonuses with every order or only those over a certain amount. I'm also checking on the links everyone here is giving like Dune Lane and Bayberry Row. Can you tell....I got daylily fever really bad. Jean...is you epiphyllum rick rack? I had 3 different epiphyllum's until we ran out of kerosene in the heater in our greenhouse one night and they froze. If you've got enough can I have a start? I can trade for night blooming cereus (another epiphyllum) or Queens Tears Bromeliad. Both are houseplants here. I'll take photo's if you want. We may have to wait until another warm spell. Its supposed to get cold here again this weekend. I forgot who said they had seeds, I'll check again and e-mail. Anita, Do you have my new e-mail address: soper07@bellsouth.net? Dawn...great photos, I wish I looked like you, I never looked that good, even when I was your age. Thanks for telling bluegrass that I referred you. Happy belated BD. I better get back to checking for free garden plans on the web (Found several good one's). Let me know if anyone is interested and I'll post the links here. Comments (100)Hello everyone! You girls out east can just keep the snow there. Cool pics, Dawn! It is cold here but we only had snow flurries yesterday. Most of the old snow is gone. Remember what they say about March...In like a lion...Out like a lamb. We can hope for that, right? Marea: Those are sure pretty little flowers! Anita: I love your Brug. I had to do a double take...I have some pots just like that. Usually have hostas in mine though! Canna: If you have any hellebore seedlings left save me a few too. I think some of them are hardy through zone 4? Maybe in a sheltered spot? Maybe you know? I just hate it when my washing machine breaks down! Cute pic of the little "artists" painting the step stool! ??Like mother like daughter/son??? In our local shopper yesterday one of the stores showed a really cool arbor/bench for the garden "on sale". I went to check it out and they did not have one on display, so I asked a clerk. She must have thought I was crazy asking for that in Feb! Said I should check back in a few weeks!I must have spring fever bad! I got the seeds Shirley! I am anxious to try them! Thanks! What a cutie your Dawson is! Gloria: Sorry about all your computer woes! Well I better get busy here...laundry and cleaning to do. Comments (100)Hi everybody.. Canna, you can imagine my excitement the other day when I was at Big Lots and I saw "your" feeder. I felt like I struck gold! You know how Big Lots is, one day it's there, the next day it's gone. I was just hoping that you hadn't gone and got a new one yet. I am so happy to have been able to do a *nice* thing for you!! You deserve it!! Oh, and of course I got one for my birds too!! Well, I think I did a NICE thing early this morning for my DH. He was so excited the other day 'cause he "traded" a few beverages with Canna and her DH, Doug. He enjoyed it so much, and starting poking around on the web. Well wouldn't ya' know it......he found a beer trading website. He wanted to trade soooo bad, but of course he's a "newbie" and no one would give him a chance. I was starting to feel sad for him. I kept encouraging him, and finally a nice fella in Colorado offered a trade. DH was thrilled, and came looking to me for help packing and shipping. Well, I "taught" him how to pack everything nicely, and had him even add a note. He was so proud of his 1st trade. And to be extra nice, I told him I would drop it off and pay for the shipping. All $17.50 of it!!! It was quite a heavy box. I also tried to do something nice for Anita today, but it backfired on me. I was out and about and I saw some Iris rhizomes that were so gorgeous. I immediately thought of Anita a picked up a couple. Came home and checked her "garden" page.....yep, she's got it already! Darn! Oh well, It's the thought that counts! I'm sure I can find a nice spot for them here somewhere......... Hi Becky Glad you are feeling good. That will be so nice to have your schooling finished. May will be here before you know it! Joey, pics?? We're waiting...... Is is possible to be the Martha type AND the Maxine type??? Actually, I think I always try to start out "Martha" and end up "Maxine". That's okay though. Marea, you get yourself into so many neat jobs. And then to be called "Sweetheart"! Perfect! It sounds very interesting. Just don't get bit, lol. Well, I better go cook something. Still Veg. and proud of it. Have a great afternoon...........~Dawn (mamabirrd)...See More4300 get a named daylily, send a name daylily 4300
Comments (100)Hi everyone, A beautiful day here also - sunny and in the 50's. Cleaned up and cut back most of the garden this past week. Daylilies are popping up everywhere! First of all, I, MaryB, do hereby solemnly swear that I will send my April partner a box or I am out of this swap for the next month and three years after that (cross my heart). YES G., I WANT IN! Secondly, I am very sad that it has now been TWO WEEKS since my March partner has received her bunny box (according to delivery confirmation), and has not posted or emailed me. I really felt I went above and beyond to make a nice box and include extras and have not even heard if she likes it. Yep, just very disappointed. Sorry, just had to say it... Thirdly, I just have to tell you all that I was VERY BAD on ebay yesterday - bought 9 new daylilies (5 of them Spacecoasts), some oriental lilies, and a hosta book. Can't wait for it all to come! Okay, now on to belated birthday wishes to Marea and Janet - so sorry I missed you on your special days - hope they were wonderful! Janet, I also am so sorry to hear of your loss of your sister. I hope you are finding peace in special memories. Marea, I am so sad to say that I lost one of the cannas from you over winter - my favorite - LePoupre. If you will be dividing and have extra this year, please let me know and maybe we can trade. YOU KNOW there's others I'd like too! Or, if you will be listing any on ebay, please give me a heads up so I can bid. Did I read that you're looking for sedums? I will be moving many of mine to a new location within the next week or so and will gladly split for you - let me know - I have Autumn Joy, Autumn Fire, Neon, Stardust, Purple Emperor, Lidakense, Rosy Glow, Clown. Maybe others - that's just what I can think of off the top of my head. Dawn, Carmichael is beautiful! I hope you can get him to stick around and be a part of your family. Our pair of Canadian Geese are back. We get the same pair back every year. They always nest and raise their babies on the island of our pond every year. It's good to see them back! Well, I need to get something done today so better go. Take care, Mary...See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
