I very much enjoyed this article John as I share your fascination with aerial views of cities and suburbs. Have you ever used the time lapse button on Google Earth? In some cities, like San Francisco, you can keep clicking all the way back to the 1940s. It is fascinating to see how cities have grown up by looking at those pictures.

My sense is that suburbs have flung as far as they can in most American metropolitan areas. I see more development within cities to higher density and also filling in where there is an opening, even in the suburbs. SCR

Interesting in more ways than one. Whether one knows it or not, their personal opinions slide into their writing whether said writing is done in article or comment form. Since personal feelings are intimately attached to a person's view of home, our feelings often become involved and spill over into our words. It doesn't matter if the view is aerial or streetside; we each have strong feelings about our home. The article was interesting and contained the potential to provide opportunity for community improvement in a variety of ways. The topic however may have been a bit broad for one Houzz post. Maybe breaking the main point of the article down into several smaller posts would allow for greater clarity by providing space for clarifying details? Or perhaps there are so many details included that the main point gets overlooked in the abundance of information. I personally felt the point of the article was clearly stated at the beginning of the article, yet as I read it seemed to became something else entirely. As did several commentors, I felt a condenscending attitude within the piece as a whole. The condenscension wasn't spoken out directly, but seemed to be most definitely implied. If there wasn't intended to be one, I apologize for misreading the piece's tone. Such things are difficult to ascertain when a reader is not personally acquainted with the author. Sharing information only to have it misunderstood or read differently than intended is disappointing. Thank you for writing and sharing both the article and the photos. It was interesting as well as thought provoking.
