Thank all of you for the Birthday wishes......I really appreciate them. My sister died two weeks ago and the memorial service was yesterday, so I haven't been reading posts.
I do have a question...did I order any bulbs from anyone here? I kinda remember ordering some, but since I haven't kept up with the posts, didn't know if that went through or not. Thanks all again Janetlee

Anita, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Prayers will be said for your family to have strength and God's help dealing with your pain. Gloria, sounds like you've had my kind of luck. We're glad you're back in the Land of Daylilies. You know it's kind of like the Land of Oz only better. My internet wouldn't come on last night and when I called tech they said it sounds like spyware but wasn't. This morning I called back and he said it's on his end so I got him to help me set up a dial-up connection. It always goes out on the weekend when I have more time to use it. Does it happen that way with ya'll? Lucky me, I got the sweetest Mother's day card from my DS and DIL that says Love is knowing the one you care about most is also your BEST FRIEND. WOW! Nothing could be a nicer compliment than that especially since it's my DH's son although he couldn't be closer to me if he were my own blood. He's been mine for 23 years and I'm very proud of that! Angie, I wish I could help with the puter but geeky I'm not. If you don't get any help here go to the Computer Help forum. Those people are great and answer so fast. Good luck with getting it fixed. Sharon, love your yard sale finds, especially the pig. Here's my pig from Good Will I bought a couple of months ago. Great minds think alike since I'm going to put a semp in it too. It's small but I think a little one will work. Just haven't gotten around to it yet. Jo, I took a picture of my lemon lily bloom but I'll wait to post it when my DSL is back on. Everytime I get ready to copy the photos to photobucket this *#$ dial-up connection goes off. Gotta go to town with DH. He's buying me a yellow rose bush for Mother's Day but he said I'll have to pick it out. OKAY! Nancy

    Good morning everyone!

Janetlee: Happy belated birthday. I am so sorry to hear about your sister. (((hugs)))

Enjoying all the pics of the spring blooms! Gives me hope! We had a beautiful weekend and it felt so good to get out and work in the gardens! I even found a few hosta eyes. Most of the daylilies are up! I have buds on one of my pulmonarias!

Dawn: Oh you got me with your April fools joke but would have been so sad if it was true! What a nice bird. Hope you can train him to stay!

Dirtpig: Beautiful bird pic too! Shouldn't be long and we will be able to have a few blooming pics to post from zone 4! Can't wait!

Canna: Too funny! I was suspicious but still had to open it!

Joey: Sorry to hear things did not work out for you and your nephew. Don't blame yourself....sounds like he needs more help than you can give right now!

Deni: Glad you are feeling better.

    MamaG: Are you feeling better?

Janet, we did order daylilies as a group. Anita headed that up for us. You may need to catch up with her to see if you ordered anything.

Veeja! a grandmommy? lol What kind of dog do you have?

Okay, all you little sicko's time to get well and get this thread moving along! It's starting to crawl and it's not cuz everyone is outside playing in the dirt.

Dawn, how is Carmichael? Have you let him out for a trial run yet and if so did he come home?

Boy Angie, that new job really did put a damper on your puter time, didn't it? Great dad to get you all that compost! Did he come help you put it out too? My lilies are popping up did I already say that? I can't wait til they bloom. Everywhere I look there are things from you. I still can't thank you enough.

Anita, daylilies and iris abound! It's so nice to have a friendship garden.

Is anyone having problems with aphids on their daylilies? They are terrible this year and I've never noticed them before. They're on my sedums too. This is war!!!

Marea, I have autumn joy and another tall sedum I think is stardust. It looks like autumn joy but has white blooms with a tiny pink line thru the center of the bloom. Let me know if you want some.

G, remind me never to order anything from you. I can't afford your shipping!!! LMFBO That's the way to get repeat business girlfriend.

Here it is 5:10 and I've been awake since 3:15. Ugh! That's what you get when you go to bed at 8:30 and I am definitely not a morning person.

    Ya'll have a great day.

    Morning Everyone,

I am up this early on my day off, cause my Mom fell again.
what a scare. She was up and going without her walker. I have no idea why.She is NEVER up this early. But she is fine, She says she hit her back on the chair, but i checked her all over, no bruises, and no pain anywhere, THANK YOU LORD!!! And she has a dr. appt. today, so will have her checked over there. I am considering putting a beeper or something on her that alerts me when she gets out of bed. WHEW

    Ellen,
How are you girl? You didn't float away on the river did you? Are you and your family OK? Let us know you are alright.

    Where is Mamma G?
She hasn't posted in 4 days. This is not normal.

Well, since I am up, I guess I will go and accomplish something,
    Have a great day,

    Morning all!

Yes, Nancy, I have been away playing in the dirt!

Oh no, Jo! So scary! I do hope your Mom is ok. I just know one of these days I am going to get a phone call that my Mom has fallen. She takes daily walks and tends to get off balance at times. There have been a couple of times after her stroke that she would get lost and it would scare us to death! The tribute to the military was so touching. Haven't gotten word when my brother will be going over. Somehow he missed getting on the list last month to go down to Mississippi for desert training.

I have cleared out the kitchen of all plants except for a lone bromeliad. The living room is half empty. Been hounding the mailman for my plant orders due to arrive this week, including new daylilies!!! I thought this week would never come...

Oh, oh look what we brought home on Sunday!

    {{gwi:1259563}}

We visited a man whose wife was a past member of the daylily club. She recently passed a few months ago and he got in contact and was wanting to turn her beautiful gardens into all grass (men). We have been out there a couple of times and her gardens are absolutely beautiful! She was a huge fan of DL's and would by new top dollar ones every year. There are benches and wrought iron funiture like in the pic that he was just getting rid of! Another club member is buying all the benches to be put in his gardens. The furniture needs to be sandblasted of the old paint and rust and repainted. Doug has access to all of that at work. We initially set it up to pay him, then he changed his mind and said if we would take up a long path of stone and haul it off, we could have the furniture since we had access to fixing it. We even got to keep the stone! We hauled that stone all Sunday afternoon and I thought for sure I would be hurting the next day. Nope, no pain, but today is another story. It hurts to type! He is also giving our club all of these wonderful daylilies to set up a memorial garden for his wife. We are currently searching for a public area to install the gardens and the club will maintain it. I feel for this man, he got choked up several times while we were visiting talking about his wife. Then he would wonder off to go watch the Bristol race for a while and then come back out and check to see if we needed anything. Sorry to be so long winded!

I hope everyone is getting well now. Marea I hope you had a great b-day! That ecard from rm was perfect for you!

Dawn, how is Carmichael? I hope you are not working too hard. It's not good for you! Oh, and my snowbank is sprouting, it made it!!!

Joey, I am sooo sorry! Big ((HUG)) for you too. He will appreciate you...not today, but he will, I know from experience.

Melissa, I hope everything is calming down after this latest scandal, UGH! Guess it was an opportun time to remind my son about the fungus of man kind. I love answering questions like "Mom, what is porn?"...

rm, the gator sounds like an excellent watch dog... I had sedum autumn joy until DH decided to put the protectant stuff on the deck a few years back with a sprayer and he forgot to cover the nice hedge of sedum growing beside it. oh well.

Off to play in the dirt and blow more bubbles...

    Where are you, G?

    Hi, CindyO!

Just back from doc, she is ok. A couple of bruises have shown up now, and a small cut on her elbow, but otherwise she is fine. She has no memory of the fall. That could be a bad thing, if she would remember, then maybe she wouldn't go off without her walker again.

    Canna,
I will say a prayer for your brother. Maybe he won't have to go.
You lucky girl, you. All that wonderful lawn furniture and stone. Just too bad she had to pass for you to be the recipient.

Well, it is 64* out, so I am off to play in the dirt. FINALLY!!!!

it must be a day for scares. sitting at work, minding my own business. DD calls at 3:15 to check, DS isn't home yet..not unusual. Five minutes later DS calls and says DD is acting "funny". Being the smartie that I am I ask him "funny like ha ha?" he says no he thinks her blood sugar must be really low. After 15 minutes of trying trying to talk him through checking her blood sugar and shoving juice down her throat I hang up and call the ambulance. This is not usually a big deal since we live in a small town and all the emt's know her, but since I called from work, 20 minutes away, they dispatched a paramedice unit, police and and ambulance. I ran out of work never even told anyone I was leaving. Hit every red light on the way home. Got there and my dad is there, DS looks frazzled and DD is sitting on the floor hooked up to some kind of heart monitor eating a sandwich....I didn't know if I should be laughing or crying. What a mess....But anyway she is FINE they let me sign a paper saying no hospital. DS did an awesome job and had her blood sugar up to 50 before they even got here. I am so proud of him...all this time I thought he was a slacker teen but he seems to be "normal"! Now I need a NAP!

    Wow Melissa,

I am sooooo glad that turned out so well. Thank God for your Son. See, occasionally they do listen. I learned that with mine as well.
We have always told our kids if they were out somewhere and needed a ride, to call us, no matter the time.
One night at 2 am we got a phone call, it was my oldest son, him and a friend had gone out, and had ended up at a party. (it was summer, so no school)He was going to spend the night with his buddy. Well, after they got to this party and had been there a while, someone started passing around cocaine, and other drugs. He called and said, "Mom, can you or Dad come and get us? They are using drugs and it isn't something we want to be a part of." Well, of course we went and got them, and we were so proud of him. He actually listened. So, we told him how proud we were of him, it meant a lot, you could see it in his face. Be sure and tell your son we ALL are proud of him, he is awesome.
Go and take that nap, you earned it today. BIG HUG TO YOU AND BOTH OF YOUR CHILDREN.

Jo, sorry your mom fell. I wish there were something they could do for her.

Melissa, I know you are proud of your son and that you DD is ok. Boy if your kids are like most they probably fight tooth and nail but when it all comes down to it the love shines thru and they would walk thru fire for each other. Ain't it great!

Canna, love your new furniture! You sure got a great deal, stones and furniture. I bought a new garden bench a couple of weeks ago but haven't put it together yet. It's still on the porch in the box. It's iron and wood and so pretty.

Somebody may have to go to Mama G's house and light a fire under her. She must really be sick! Hope she and all others who have been sick recouperate quickly.

One of my friends had a baby and I went to see her today. Oh, she's soooo sweet. I just wanted to bring her home with me but mom and dad said not yet. lol I wonder why, she was born last Thursday. You'd think that was long enough for them to want a break.

Nite all have a good one.

Canna - Love your furniture and that cute little red head sitting on it. I love getting good deals.

Jo - Glad your Mom is ok. My Dad now needs a walker or a cane for walking. He fell and broke his hip. It taught him to use that walker and cane.

Melissa - Whew that made cold chills go up my spine. So glad everything turned out ok. I carry crackers, candy bars, and things to snack on everytime we go somewhere. I have the same problem as your daughter. I get the shakes, dizziness and all. Last year a neighbor came to buy irises from me and it happened to her. I gave her a coke and she said it helped. So there's lots of us that have that problem.

Joey - Sorry that trying to help your nephew did not work out. I wish the best for him and hope he gets his life straightned out.

Anita - where are you? Digging in the dirt? It has been in the 70's this week and I love it. Work outside until around 8:30. Get alot more done now in the evenings.

    Good morning everyone!

It's been a few days since I posted so

    Happy late birthday Marea!

Janet - I'm sooo sorry for you loss. (((( Big HUGS!))))

Spring is finally here - I came back to my crocuses blooming! Daffodils are up and one is even starting to nod - maybe they'll bloom soon. DS's birthday is today. He's five! Wow, where does the time go.
Jo - I'm still here, just busy these days. I guess you missed my post saying that I was back from a quick trip to Florida. Glad to hear that your scare turned out to be okay for your mom.

Melissa - oooohhh that sounds too close for me. We once had a party where a new girlfriend of a friend neglected to tell us that she was diabetic. We had never met her before. She was drinking sambucca - lots of it. You know a very sweet liquor. Her blood sugar went down to 37. Very messy, very scary - she ended up in the hospital. 54 sounds too close to that for my taste, better, but how low did it go?

Canna lovers - if you didn't get your cannas, they'll be there soon. The last shipments are going out today!

Joey - I'm sorry things aren't working out with your nephew. It's not easy to change problems with teenagers.

Canna - love that new furniture! Can't believe that her DH would be so quick to change everything to lawn! Wonder if mine would do that. He has noooo green thumb and no desire to aquire one.

ellen we dont know how low it went, but we have seen 24!!! Sometimes theres no way to get a blood sugar, just know it is real low by her behavior and treat it quick with juice and cake icing! She swears we have never given her cake icing. She also swears she's never kicked, punched or bit us :) but we know differently! She is up and down again today so keeping a close eye on her. School trip next week so the nurse is going along as a chaperone! She is excited

Melissa - that must be very nerve racking. Was she in the hospital when she was at 24? As for kicking and biting, that's what my nice house guest did to the EMT's after we called an ambulance. They had to tie her down to the stretcher. Unfortunately, giving her more sugar probably wouldn't have raised her blood sugar since the problem was caused by drinking sambucca. The part I found the most astonishing was when she got back to our house from the hospital, she asked me if I knew what a blood sugar testing kit looked like. She had been a diabetic all her life, she was 30 years old and she didn't know what one looked like. I know from what you've written that you're teaching your daughter at least that much on how to live with diabetes.

Anyways, I'm glad that she's back to normal now and it's wonderful that your son was able to help her out and show what a non-slacker he can be.

YES! Joey my toad lilies and orchids are coming up! But, I am going to have it out with the creature that is eating my toad lilies! The peter pan agapanthus is coming up too :).

Deni, are the var. weigela doing ok? If not let me know! My bush has busted out this week and about to bloom.

I got my Plant Delights order today and it is pouring rain :(. Guess my new babies will have to hang on until like Saturday before this rain moves out.

Yesterday, my first Daylily arrived in the mail, Truly Angelic! That is one of them that I won at the auction in back in Feb.

Ellen, looking forward to my cannas arriving!

Melissa, I had gestational diabetes while pregnant with my son. I had it real bad, had to eat like every two hours or I would pass out. Gained 60lbs. The first time I passed out was at the mall in the middle of Sears. I was at 6 months and I suddenly started seeing spots in front of my eyes. Doug about lost it! He said I just stopped and had a strange look on my face, said 'I don't feel right', then boom, on the floor. Didn't have one bit of trouble with sugar with my daughter. Had to do the nasty glucose test every month. My dad has type II and didn't know it until he had a urinary infection and went to the doc. That was one reason that prompted me to lose weight, oh, and save money by not having to buy bigger clothes!

Here is a beautiful orchid bloom to chase away the gloomy day:

(Joey, it is sitting on my new adirondak chair!)

Janet...I'm so sorry about the loss of your sister.

Jo...I boo-hooed all through that tribute. I hope all our soldiers are home soon.

Marea...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Check for a BD surprise when you get your box.

Anita...Still holding your MG vines. Some of them are probably 30-35 inches tall now and are vining nicely. Let me know when to ship.

JO...I haven't forgotten you either. I will let you know as the vines you're interested in are ready.

Melissa...I was a school nurse and know the ups and downs of juvenille diabetes. Low blood sugar is very scary. I hope she stabilizes soon. I think people would be surprised to learn how many school children have diabetes. Some of my children with diabetes were in kindergarden.

Gloria...Are you okay? Can I help you with anything?

DH and I got bad news today. He saw a cardiologist today and was told he has a heart blockage and was diagnosed with emphysema. He is to have a heart cath on April 19. Please keep him in your prayers.

I WANT TO BE IN THE APRIL SWAP.
I UNDERSTAND IF I DON'T SEND A BOX TO MY PARTNER,
I WILL BE OUT OF THE SWAP FOR THE NEXT MONTH AND
    THREE YEARS AFTER THAT.

Mareas...Happy belated Birthday, I was in the middle of sending you a cute little Hallmark e-card and the lights went out so I guess it never sent...Sorry

Canna...1 of the var. weigela has a small green leaf that looks like it is going to pop out any day and the other is toast. It did not like me at all..lol I have been babing the other so I think it will be fine. Thank you again for them...you helped me realize yet another dream in the garden.

Blueberry Sundae does anyone have it for trade?

Deni - Glad you made it through the storms. We only got rain and some winds.

    Hi everyone,

A beautiful day here also - sunny and in the 50's. Cleaned up and cut back most of the garden this past week. Daylilies are popping up everywhere!

First of all, I, MaryB, do hereby solemnly swear that I will send my April partner a box or I am out of this swap for the next month and three years after that (cross my heart). YES G., I WANT IN!

Secondly, I am very sad that it has now been TWO WEEKS since my March partner has received her bunny box (according to delivery confirmation), and has not posted or emailed me. I really felt I went above and beyond to make a nice box and include extras and have not even heard if she likes it. Yep, just very disappointed. Sorry, just had to say it...

Thirdly, I just have to tell you all that I was VERY BAD on ebay yesterday - bought 9 new daylilies (5 of them Spacecoasts), some oriental lilies, and a hosta book. Can't wait for it all to come!

Okay, now on to belated birthday wishes to Marea and Janet - so sorry I missed you on your special days - hope they were wonderful!

Janet, I also am so sorry to hear of your loss of your sister. I hope you are finding peace in special memories.

Marea, I am so sad to say that I lost one of the cannas from you over winter - my favorite - LePoupre. If you will be dividing and have extra this year, please let me know and maybe we can trade. YOU KNOW there's others I'd like too! Or, if you will be listing any on ebay, please give me a heads up so I can bid. Did I read that you're looking for sedums? I will be moving many of mine to a new location within the next week or so and will gladly split for you - let me know - I have Autumn Joy, Autumn Fire, Neon, Stardust, Purple Emperor, Lidakense, Rosy Glow, Clown. Maybe others - that's just what I can think of off the top of my head.

Dawn, Carmichael is beautiful! I hope you can get him to stick around and be a part of your family.

Our pair of Canadian Geese are back. We get the same pair back every year. They always nest and raise their babies on the island of our pond every year. It's good to see them back!

Well, I need to get something done today so better go.
    Take care,
    Mary
