So sorry. Sending good thoughts her way. The autoimmune diseases are so hard to treat... hoping she has the limited type of Scleroderma, the other type doesn't sound good at all.

I think that's what my brother said it was. I tried to take notes, but I'm not sure how good I did. I also don't know how long she's had the symptoms, or how long they have been trying to diagnose it. He didn't sound very confident, but I don't think I would either, if it was one of my kids. She is a beautiful girl, too. I just hurt inside for them all. DB had a massive heart attack a few years ago, also. He is fine, but they sure don't need this, also.

I am so sorry to hear this, and will remember your niece and the family in my prayers.

I have morphea, a form of scleroderma. It's mildly annoying (mostly) but I do have some subcutaneous involvement in my abdomen.

More than anything, it's just ugly. :( Wearing a bikini always invites questions about my skin - but hey - I'm gonna wear one, anyway, as long as I have the body to do it!

I hope she has a good prognosis!

Tami, my DH was diagnosed with scleroderma over 50 years ago. If it is the limited type, she should live a pretty normal life. Prayers coming J's way for a good diagnosis.

Not familiar with it but I am sending prayers for proper meds and complete healing.

Thanks everyone. I was hit with this out of the blue. I had no idea. We only live about 15 miles from each other, but we don't see, or talk to each other, often. Usually when DB calls, he wants something. I am sure it was hard for him to call and tell me. I know he is hurting for her. They are strong in faith, and I know that will help. I also don't know how many others in the family have been told. IE, my parents, or my other DB, so I don't want to say anything in case they don't know. I will be telling my 2 kids, tho. I was not asked not to tell, and I think my kids should know. I can feel you all with me. It means so much.

I'm so sorry, Tami, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. These auto immune issues are so complicated. I hope she does well, what is the treatment?

Glad they are going to see a specialist. Scleroderma is very complicated and diverse. I am a scleroderma patient and I have been very lucky. I don't want to give false hope, and she is so young. I was very sick for a couple of years, retired on a disability. I got much better. We don't know if it was the medicine, great reduction of stress, or the natural progression of the disease. I have some lung involvement. I was so scared when I was first diagnosed. It is crucial that she see a specialist in scleroderma if she can find one. Rheumatologist can get her started.
