How does a frost free freezer work and does meat not store well
Comments (4)Being wrapped as well as it is will help, and if it's cryovac'd that's even better, but if you expect to store the meat for long period, and if your barn freezer still holds temperature reliably, it's worth digging it out. Because heat rises, the chest freezer will take in less warm air when you open it, and the more densely packed a freezer is, the more efficiently it runs and the better the frozen packages can keep each other cold. It's important to organize it well, however, rather than having it sit open while you dig through it looking for one last pork chop. Make a list of what you have and where it is, and make a note of everything you add and remove. It helps to tape it to the freezer with a pencil. The high end, newer upright freezers use a system I don't really understand well, with evaporators that remove the moisture from the air that gets in, preventing frost from forming, rather than running through defrost cycles like the old style automatic defrost freezers did. That will give you less freezer burn, but the manual defrost chest freezer is still the recommended appliance for long term meat storage....See MoreHow well does sealing really work?
Comments (7)Love this post! But, I'd like to highly encourage you to forego coloring your own hair. IMHO, the $125 is well worth it to get beautiful hair color & cut. It really depends on how often you have to get it done. I only color mine around 4 times a year. You may even be able to find a stylist who will do it for less. All the advertising makes it look so terrific, but you can usually tell the difference with people who color their own....See MoreHow do you use your Orca sink? Does it work well?
Comments (2)I have an Orca with all accessories but have been unable to break the bucket habit (actually, I use a stainless steel bowl). The dish pan that goes with the Orca is big and works really well but for me it's on the wrong side of the sink. I tried to use the grid in the sink as a dish rack, but I don't believe in wiping dry anything that will dry itself, so it didn't work for me. I had to get a new dishrack and drainboard for the counter. I think I need a 12 step program because no matter what I do, I can't change my old ways. If you promptly dry your dishes I think you'll like both the dishpan and grids. I found mine very reasonably priced on ebay....See MoreChalkboard Paint - a few how to questions.
Comments (3)1.) There is chalkboard paint that comes ready-made, in green too, and this may be a better decorating option than a whole wall of black. 2.) You do not have to do the WHOLE WALL with the magentic paint. Just the area that will be used with magnets. You probably won't be putting stuff up at the ceilings or down at the floor level or in the extreme corners. Use four or five coats to make sure there is enough metal filings deposited on the walls to attract the magents that you are going to use. Naturally you need smooth wall for a chalkboard to function properly. Just paint the magnetic paint where you will be needing it. The stuff is expensive and you do not need to do the whole wall in it. THEN, paint over the maganetic paint with regular paint or the chalkboard paint, doing the whole wall in whatever you chose....See Moredilly_dally
