Who knew Houzzers could be so artistic with a little chalk? We did

Houzz Contributor. Hi there! I live in a 1940s cottage in Atlanta that I'll describe as "collected."
I got into design via Landscape Architecture, which I studied at the University of Virginia.

The popularity of chalkboard paint has hit an all-time high, which means your chalkboard wall must stand out from the pack. It’s no longer enough to have a photo showing useful things like a neat grocery list or family schedule in neat penmanship, or even cute children’s art. Nope, to stay ahead in the chalkboard-wall game, you need to either take a crash course in studio art or hire a professional artist to come in and create a masterpiece before your chalkboard is ready for its close-up.
Obviously, I’m joking. Just for fun, these are some of the best chalkboard renderings I’ve seen around Houzz. If you’ve spied another one or created one yourself, please add it to the list via the Comments section.

Sorry, kid, you’re out. It’s time to wash this wall down and bring in a pro. (Joking!)
I had to do a double take to see if this was wallpaper. The simple plus signs are a charming idea. Also note that the chalk dust was wiped down before this photo was taken.
These people have given their chalkboard wall the look of a large-scale wallpaper print. The birch trees are larger than life.
When I first saw this, I wondered if this was some sort of loft convent, inhabited by a modern-day Maria von Trapp and seven singing children.
These homeowners love to switch up this pizza oven wall all the time.
Did these folks just visit the American Museum of Natural History, or did they just stream The Squid and the Whale on Netflix? Whatever it is, this is one impressive chalkboard rendering.

This person is a regular William Morris with a stick of chalk.
Some people express some great and hilarious messages on their chalkboards. “Live. Laugh. Love.” is so 2000. These folks are miles above that schmaltz.
This board is very Bart Simpson with a kitchen twist. Plus the penmanship is very pleasing (cursive is a dying art). A+.
I never thought chalk could make me hungry, but this recipe and doodle combination makes me want to go to La Tavola.
I’ve always liked the way the handwriting looks around this dining room. It’s consistent and nice. However, I cannot make out what it says, so I should probably put in a disclaimer saying I don’t necessarily support its message, just in case it’s some sort of wackadoo manifesto.
These “framed” quotations are inspiring in the workspace. I wonder about some of the ones on the right side, though. Were they complete at one point, and then someone came along and installed a refrigerator and built-in surround and covered parts of them up?
On this one the chalk was used with a light touch in a tattoo-inspired way.
This one is very A Beautiful Mind. Mathematicians, check it out, please — is this a real proof or does it make as much sense as the sign language translation at a South African funeral?
Robots are awesome. That is all.

this may be dumb but i dont get the "or does it make as much sense as the sign language translation at a South African funeral" joke. Can someone please explain.
I do the chalk boards at my work and a great way to clean the board is with coke. First clean them off with water, then put some coke in a spray bottle and spray the board then wipe it off. Brings it back to black.
