Funny you should post this because I was just thinking about asking the same question.

Yes, every night while I sit in my family room enjoying my TV programs and working on the computer, I hear noises from the floor above (our bedroom). It's like someone's walking across the floor, but it only lasts a second. It's only me and DH here so I know no one is up there. The house is over 30 years old; perhaps it's still settling

And, when I'm in my bedroom, I hear sounds all the time but can't explain them. Sometimes I get up to check them out but it's nothing that I can see or hear again at that time. DH is oblivious to sounds so he doesn't hear them (that I know of). I thought maybe there's a long-tailed critter running around, but the sounds are nothing like that.

Like you said, not scary, but strange. I just scratch my head and ignore them most of the time....except the other night when there was a loud crash and I found a picture from the kitchen wall that fell off. Okay, that one was legitmate, but it scared the hell out of us.

We have occasional creaky sounds from upstairs when we are downstairs.

I guess it's just the wood creaking from temperature or humidity changes.

I would blame it on our cat, but she is usually downstairs with us when we hear it.

I am so hard of hearing without my hearing aides things are really quiet at night.....or at least to me.

These sound just like someone walking from the entry, turn left and down the hall and into his bedroom, just like it sounds when he comes home in the evening. It does not happen every month, just a few times a year. I have even called out to the upstairs asking if he is home. When he doesn't answer I call his place of business and he will answer. Just strange. Our home is forty years old. What is really strange is the apartment that our family rents out on my parents property. I have never seen it, but the renter has, my son has and also has our grown granddaughter. At times, I guess there is a line of light green orbs that go marching across the room and out the other wall. There are no gas lines in the house. I haven't figured that one out. I wish I could have seen it.
Their sightings were not at the same time. They were different years. My son saw them when he was remodeling the place for my Mother. I guess he went over to look at them and they just passed right out the wall.

We've had cups fly off the shelf with no one in the room, We can sit five feet from the kitchen and hear what sounds like someone rummaging in a drawer. The celler door opens by itself constantly and once my daughter saw a boy of about 14 in our celler, she came up and asked me who he was and I said "there's no one there" We had a painter at the house who was listening and I asked her to describe the boy. The painter came down off the ladder visably shaken. He said "that was my son, you even described what he had on when he was killed in a car accident last year" Sooooooooo strange things are happening.

Naw, just expanding and contracting sounds depending if it is warm or cold.

Not at home,but at work.We have a ghost,named Mr.Willie.My friend and I have both seen him,and described to each other exactly the same.We hear him also.Sometimes he is more restless than other times.My office[dental office]used to be a funeral home.there are lots of ghosts in the town I work in.

I've told this one before recently I heard a terrible vibrating kind of noise like a motor gone askew I searched the kitchen and garage area hoping it wasn't a fridge or water heater and found it was a battery operated vegetable peeler that went off by it self in a drawer. I've sincet then removed all batteries from everything and unplugged appliances when not in use.

Not in this house, or any recent homes.
But, when I was in high school my family lived in a very old farm house (100+ yrs) in the middle of the wheat/corn/bean fields of Ohio. We heard a lot of strange noises in that house. The sound of footsteps would get us out of bed and checking the whole house. If I was in the kitchen, I heard the sound of chattering voices in the dining room. If I went to the dining room, they came from the kitchen. It sounded like women just socializing, just distant, no clear words.

Once I was in a room where my mom had placed decorative figurines on the window sill. The window was closed, but a wind blew through the room from the window- not a draft, strong enough to knock the figures out of the window sill. One broke at the neck and the head rolled across the floor.

There were also several small buildings on the property, chicken coop kind of building that were no longer used except for storage. My mom heard voices from outside one afternoon, like children playing, so looked out the window. She said she saw several children in "old-fashioned" clothes running around those buildings. When she went outside, it was all gone, nothing to see or hear. She heard the sounds several other times without seeing anything.

There were so many strange incidents in that house I don't remember them all right now. 9 times out of 10, it was my mother or myself who witnessed it; very rarely my dad or brother. So the two of them always blew it off as the house settling, the wind, etc. Mom and I always believed that house was haunted. That was over 20 years ago and we have never changed our minds. They lived there for 12 years, I was still at home for 6 of them. Oddly, it didn't really scare us once we got used to it. We never felt threatened. It wasn't daily, but at least a couple times a month, and it became normal.

There was definitely something supernatural about that house. It was while living there that my grandmother "visited" me the night she died unexpectedly.

I can't tell you how many times I've been working upstairs and heard hubby's truck pull into the driveway, engine stop, cab door slam. Dash to the window to make sure it's not just someone turning around--and there's no one even close. 'Bout ten minutes later, he's there for real. Not scary, just peculiar.

Oh, and we have this wonderful old piece of furniture--can't think of what it's called, but it's made to hold decorative plates. When the weather is humid, it makes these explosive "PO-O-O-OW" noises, almost like a firecracker. Nothing spooky about it, because the dogs and cats don't react to it at all. Sure makes me jump, though!

Yes I had a visitor one night hubby was hunting upstate PA.

I was in the bathtub and heard someone walk across the kitchen floor in heavy boots. They went up the stairs. I almost called out to hubby, but something stopped me. I jumped out of the tub and locked the door and called my mother, thinking someone was in the house.

She came back and we searched with a ball bat (dog never barked). I did not worry too much because whatever it was could have "got" me while I was in the bathtub if it wanted to.

Hubby told me later the same thing happened while he was sleeping here protecting the lumber the builders had in the unfinished house. He thought I was playing a trick on him.

Another time I was walking in the bedroom door where hubby was already sleeping. Something whooshed past me. That was creepier because I felt a presence.

This weekend I went to a yard sale at a community center. There was a man on the other side of a table and just as we both walked past the end of the table, one of a set of 3 ceramic jars on a tray "jumped" out in the middle of the floor with a crash.
He though I bumped it and I thought he did - neither of us was close to it!

I hear noises all the time, but usually it is a bird, squirrel or other animal on the deck or on the gutter.

When we first bought our house, we knew it had been owned by a couple with 4 kids. The husband was a teacher and had died of lung cancer. The widow sold us the house in 1981. I often heard footsteps walking around downstairs while we were up in our bedroom. My brother came for a visit and heard the footsteps also. I started sleeping with a knife under my pillow. Never saw anything or heard anything else. Our two kids were born and we always had a dog, so things got busy and I forgot about the "ghost". I think our family just finally drove him out with all our own vibes. Oh, but one day I heard a buzzing in the bathroom. I looked everywhere and in the bottom of the tub was amy Venus Vibrating razor. Apparently fell off the shelf and clicked "on".

ALL the time. And we see things that are unexplained too.

The first thing that happened in this house was when I walked across the yard, across the cool decking to the old antique wagon to feed the birds. When I came back, the hose was on. It wasn't when I went by the first time. It had one of those sprayers on it that looked like the firehose type. You had to turn it to make the water come on.

My son called me at work one day in early September. Wanted to know if I turned the heat on. This my not sound odd, but we NEVER use our heat...ever. He came home and it was over 100 degrees in our house and the heater was and had been on for quite awhile.

Our bedroom has a door to the back yard. When it is nice out, we sleep with that door open. One night, we got into bed and I realized we hadn't opened it. DH said he would get it. He got out of bed and hadn't even taken a step, when the door flew wide open.

We have a ceiling fan in our bedroom. DH was laying on the bed, watching it. It stopped by itself. He called out to me, but I was in the living room and didn't hear him. Then it started again. He came to see where I was, as he thought I was playing a trick on him.

Our walk in closet light goes off and on, on and off by itself. As does the light in the hallway bathroom.

We see shadows flitting down the hallway.

DS has had what feels like a hand brush the back of his head in his bedroom, which is actually the den. He has heard a female voice say things and seen a figure walk out of his room.

Our pit bull will sit in front of the sofa, like she is looking at someone sitting there. All the sudden she will stand up, keep looking at the sofa and just wag the heck out of her tail. No one is on the sofa.

I am not sure if this "ghost" is the original owner who I have heard had alzheimer's and would walk out of the house and down the street unattended or if it is my late FIL. I used to be convinced it was my FIL, but I am not so sure anymore. But then I think maybe again it is. When we lived in our last house, he lived with us and passed away while we lived there. I used to hear him walking in the house, with his walker scraping the baseboards. I saw him twice in the garage.

I am not afraid of the goings on in our house. However, my son? He is totally freaked out about it.
