I want to move, but I don't want to leave my kitchen.
Comments (35)Caligal, it really sounds like you want to stay with your current home. However, I'll just point out that right now the inventory of foreclosed homes gives people unprecedented chances to obtain homes they could not hope to have before and many will not be able to afford in future (let's hope no more such "wonderful" home markets). I don't mean go looking just for a bigger home (although in your case some additional size would be nice), but rather a lifestyle improvement: A decent home in a location that is particularly desirable to you. You know, location, location, location. Things like good schools, a pretty sociable neighborhood, close to family, en route between friends and mall (they'll be dropping in), favorite amenities close by (cows in pastures or high-density shopping, your choice), good proximity and transportion to work. Whatever floats your boat. If you're not already in a place you'd really like to raise your children and even be happy growing old, this current opportunity to make your home there should not be passed up for any but the most important reasons....See Moredo you ever hear "I'm just so busy"
Comments (25)I try not to use the "I'm busy" to often. I think it makes my friends feel like they aren't important. I tend to say a certain week or month, lets catch up or do someones birthday. Lately I have felt overwhelmed and I hate it. It's graduation & party crunch time, scholarship assisting, school activities have simmered down thank goodness, but the farming has stepped up X5. Oh and we are adding a whole new wing to our house. DH is doing most of the work between farming and I'm the designer. HA, sounds glamorous but it seriously isn't! Subbing at school has been few and the caller must be frustrated at my refusal to work. I am blessed to be able to enjoy the fruits of our labor but its been a long haul, we don't know what weekend fun is. My friends have been so good, they will offer their hands to help me. You bet I'm using them at DD's graduation open house! that's what friends are for. ~~I agree we are all busy. But if my friends NEED me I'll try to be there for them someway, like they are for me....See Morehaving just sold would i ever want to buy again? vent ok rant
Comments (9)Wow Mary! Sounds like you've been through the ringer. I must have missed the post that you got a contract. As for the property taxes, some counties bill taxes in advance, some in arrears, some half and half. For instance, when I lived in Calgary, we had to pay our property taxes by June 30th. That covered the first half of the year (so that's paid in arrears) and the 2nd half of the year (July through Dec) in advance. Here in Tucson, property taxes are due Oct. 1 for the previous year, so most is paid in arrears. They actually give us an additional break where we can pay half the amount on October 1st and the other half in March. If you don't pay half in Oct, then you must pay the full amount by January 1st and you won't be charged any late fees. So, the reason you owe taxes is probably because your county charges in arrears. It's confusing for some people because they think when they pay for them that they're paid in advance, but most are not. Check with your county on how they assess the property taxes in terms of payment, advance/arrears....See MoreEver heard (or hear of) a theramin? (1 pic)
Comments (11)Yes, strangely enough, I have heard about a theramin. The frequency of sound produced is controlled by the capacitive coupling between the player's hand the an electrode in the instrument. The capacitance changes with the distance of the player's hand from the electrode. The theramin was an experimental instrument constructred when electronic engineers and inventors were tinkering with applying electronics to musical instruments. The electrified guitar and bass guitar are fine examples that came from that period. The theramin was a novelity that never moved beyond its inception stage and did not become popular. It makes interesting sounds, but is msuically deficient compared to what can be done with other instruments. Most of the note changes on a theriman are slurred. It is almost impossible to sharply change from one note to another, or to produce 'plinked' notes, a common device used in most conventional instruments. The first theriman was made using vacuum tube amplifiers....See Morerrah
