Guys, Where Do You Feel Most at Home?
For Father’s Day, we’d like to hear from the men. What part of your house makes you feel most like yourself — grounded and alive?

In honor of the men in our lives, we’d like our gentlemen readers to tell us where they feel most themselves at home.
Homeowners: Upload a picture of your favorite space in the Comments section below, and tell us what you use it for and why it makes you feel like yourself.
Designers: Post a picture of a space you’ve designed specifically for a male client, and what needs it met for him in the context of the home.

This elegant ipe deck by Decks by Kiefer faces terraced gardens and a pool. We can imagine some men who might like to relax here in the chaise longues and take in the view, perhaps sipping a glass of something cool or a mug of something warm.
Show us: Is the place you feel most yourself at home a solitary, restful space? Or is it in the midst of all the action?

Not exactly a man cave, this refined basement in Denver includes a wall of reclaimed wood, a large TV and a cushy sectional for lounging. We don’t know if this is the space where the man who lives here feels most himself, but it certainly looks like one comfortable option.
Your turn: Let’s see the spaces where you feel most yourself — even if that means an unfinished basement.

An organized pantry can make the epicure’s heart sing. Or perhaps a well-run kitchen makes you feel most yourself, because you’re the one keeping the pans sizzling. Whether you’re gratified by the organization factor or the simple presence of fine cooking ingredients, we’d love to see food spaces if that’s where you feel most at ease.
Share your photos: Upload your inspiring kitchen and pantry photos in the Comments section and tell us why that’s your happy spot.

There’s nothing like working with plants to calm the spirit and soothe away stress. For some, anyway. Is the garden your oasis or just a place to pull weeds? You tell us.
Bragging time: If your hard-earned garden is where you most feel yourself, show us a picture. We know you worked for it.

On Father’s Day, there are plenty of men who might just like the day off — from everything. A home bar is certainly a grown-up space. If it’s also the place where you feel most yourself, upload the photos so we can see!

This time of year, my favorite place to hang out is the front piazza. The house faces northwest and is on the side of a mountain, so we get some spectacular sunsets!
A convenient backyard putting green!
The above man kitchen is a waterfront home owned by a client confined to a wheelchair. It required a continuous smooth surface from driveway, through house and down ramps to the waters edge. That is the ocean seen through the entire home. This timbered outdoor kitchen became the real hot side of the home extension for afternoon grilling and entertaining. Missing from photo is gas barbeque, newly installed gas overhead heaters and beautiful bamboo planters. Stay tuned!
This Creekside location boasts a second storey IPE covered deck directly off the Man Cave, the indoor kitchen and the master bedroom. The man of this house has very few steps to take to get to where the action is day or night. Complete with stand up bar, wash up sink, grill and overhead monitor. Timbered under lit trusses provide year round shelter while still having a section for dining under the stars.
