Why are there two beds in the space?

Does all the furniture stay?

Are you just looking for a new arrangement for the furniture, or are you wanting different paint, suggestions for lighting and accessories, art?

What do you feel comfortable spending? Is this a budget, do with what you have and refresh plan, or do you have some money to spend?

I have two beds in the room for when other people come over , I would love to ideally keep the furniture I have but I am up for suggestions , and I am willing to spend some money

Do you use both beds? Would it be possible to remove the twin bed? Removing the twin bed would afford you alot of space, perhaps enough to place a chair in the corner for reading or whatever.

I think I would declutter and remove the twin bed first.

Are you thinking of painting/changing your wall color? What are your plans for the current carpeting? In other words, how much do you want to replace?

It doesn't appear that you are using headboards. Perhaps a DIY headboard would be something you could do in order to get a more "finished" look for the bed.

Very hard to give advice since I don't know if you are keeping your current window treatments and bedding. Are you intersted in a change in those items?

Unless you have someone sleeping in the twin bed more than one night a week, I would get a sleep love seat in its place and make a sitting area.

If you must keep the twin bed, turn it into a nice day bed with cushions that give you good back support, and some decorative pillows.

Where is your door, lower left wall in the drawing?

What is your budget? Is some money $200 or $2000 Do you rent or own?

I would
1) Move the king bed to the right wall under the window. Put up a curtain rod nearly to the ceiling that is as wide as the king, or even wider. Use the drapes to set off the bed and give a canopy effect. It doesn't matter if the window is not centered over the bed, you fake that with the drapes. Drapes center on bed, not window. Get some night stands and bedside lamps. Get rid of the little shelf up by the ceiling.

2) Put a love seat sleeper in the upper left corner on a diagonal, and get a small, easy to move coffee table or occasional table. Get a small wool area rug that works with your colors to set it off as a distinct space. The rug should be big enough to fit under the front feet of the love seat and under the coffee table. Make a cozy little sitting area. Check out IKEA or Target for inexpensive sleepers.

3) Take the doors off the cupboard and turn it into a bookcase - books, art objects, photos. Or put a curtain over it and pretend it's a window. The best thing would be to wall over it in this room, and open up the space from the wall the back side of it, if that's possible. It's an awkward thing to have in the middle of your wall.

4) Push the dressers together on the wall they are on. Consider painting them (black?), and swapping out the handles so that they coordinate better. Glass knobs and handles. Better yet, get one big dresser no taller than the short one. The walls are already chopped up by closet, cupboard, door, window - don't chop them up further by separate dressers.

5) Lamps - it looks like all there is is overhead lighting. Get a floor lamp for your sitting area, consider a small lamp for your dresser if you don't do night tables. A room that size ought to have at least three lighting sources - it will make it so much warmer and more interesting.

6) Put up a mirror somewhere on the dresser wall. It will widen the room.

I love that idea with the day bed but where do I get those big pillows and also how do I make a DIY bed board? regarding the paint I would like to change it but I want to keep the carpet i would like to get new bedding as well but I cant find anything similar to what I have I live in a house that we own and I am willing to spend around 200 in all

Here are a few suggestions...

1. Declutter
2. I would paint the walls a khaki color.
3. I would get some light beige curtain panels.You can find great deals at Ross, tjmaxx marshalls etc.
4. Also at the above mentioned places you can find affordable quilts and bedding and lots of big pillow choices.
5. I would buy two bed skirts for your two beds.
6. Maybe paint your dressers and get new hardware.
7. Some lamps would be nice as well!

I was thinking this over the weekend and looking at some pics and I think that I would love to do my room like a light grey I fell in love love with this particular bed room do you guys have any ideas on how I can get mine similar I am willing to paint and I would love to do the DIY head board what color would I do and paint the dressers .

Those walls are not what I would call light grey and your carpet is much darker.

With a $200 budget, you need to be creative and flexible. A DIY headboard could easily run you over $100 for materials and leave you with a gallon of paint, still in need of bedding. I would get your bedding and go from there. If you have to keep two beds in the room, I would probably do them in matching comforters. It might be nice to have the daybed look in something different, but then you spend a lot more time and effort with limited choices to try to cordinate on a budget. If you find something inexpensive that works, forget what I said and go for it, but for quick maximum impact here's the kind of thing I'd be looking at --

Paint your walls, paint the dressers a silver metallic (have to sand and prep well to get a nice smooth look) and add glass or brushed gold hardware for a current look. Definitely need matching hardware if you are going to put them close to each other. You might get away with different pulls if they are on different walls and/or painted differently. Another possibility would be to get a short bookcase or even an open show rack that in white and similar to the dressers and push them together into a stair step look -- again, with the same hardware, which might mean filling holes and drilling new ones, patching and painting. Some of these choices will depend on your ability and willingness to tackle some of these projects.

A minimal cost DIY headboard could be a panel door painted white and hung on the wall. Not padded, but you get a dressed up look without spending money on padding, fabric and other materials. The doors are available at resale shops like Habitat's Restore or architectural salvage yards. If you keep the dressers white or paint them a color, you could make the door headboard your silver accent.

Shop like crazy for some white sheers on sale and add a roller shade trimmed in grey ribbon or a Roman shade for privacy.

Paint only after you get bedding in place. Then hang some prints or other color touches onthe walls. Take down the little shelves that seem too high and too small to be of functional value and aren't doing any visual favors to your room.

FInally -- get creative about that whatever it is on the closet wall. The suggestion to take the doors down and treat it as an open bookcase or another window are good. You could change the trim around it to make it more decorative or take it off. Find wall art stick ons, mural wallpaper -- paint something yourself -- just take the awkward element and turn it into a pleasing feature or at least a functional neutral item.

You can look on Craigslist for a head board for your big bed and paint it white or whatever color you paint your dressers.

over the weekend I painted it a gray I will post pics and at this point I think I am going to change the carper to a lighter color ( any ideas?) I am also going to try to get a queen size bed to give my room some more space , and does anyone know where I can get cheap duvet covers? I hope to go today to buy fabric for my headboard any ideas on that to I was thinking cream but dont know where to start ( I was thinikng of going to joanne fabrics)

Sounds like you are going way over the $200 you said you were willing to spend. How much you are willing to spend makes a big difference on how you approach things. Right now, I am confused.

As for fabric, I would never buy at Joanne unless the fabric was at least 40% off because they so often have the home decorating fabrics at 40-50% off. Calico Corners, Hancocks, Hobby Lobby or whatever you have locally would be other options. Check your yellow pages for decorating/upholstery fabrics. You want it heavy enough to stand up to upholstery use. Keep in mind cleaning if you are going to lean against it a lot to read in bed. Oils from skin and hair will attract dirt and show over time. You may have to settle for spot cleaning unless you make a slipcover that you can pull off and wash or take to the cleaners.

It looks great. I like the trim white.
I also like the carpet color in your inspiration pic. Be sure to stay away from colors that are too pink or too yellow if you get beige carpet.

You may also want to look into getting one big low dresser instead of the two little ones. I was on Craigslist today and saw quite a few for $50 to $150 bucks.

I went to look at fabrics yesterday and I am going back today I am trying to decide If I should do Creme or gray headboard and then do the bedding the opposite color ? I went to get the bedding today (pics ) and I found two that I bought in the end I did the headboard white instead of creme i posted a pic but I am not done it yet still needs pins and touch up I got the fabric for only 1$ a yard and I cant decide which bedding to do the first one has black designs going down it which I am not sure that I like and The second is from target I cant decide if I like it or should I just do a solid gray like the one in the picture of the room that I like but I don't know where to get something similar , also what do you think about moving the bed to the corner so that it is not under the window
