Comments (26)I went to get the bedding today (pics ) and I found two that I bought in the end I did the headboard white instead of creme i posted a pic but I am not done it yet still needs pins and touch up I got the fabric for only 1$ a yard and I cant decide which bedding to do the first one has black designs going down it which I am not sure that I like and The second is from target I cant decide if I like it or should I just do a solid gray like the one in the picture of the room that I like but I don't know where to get something similar , also what do you think about moving the bed to the corner so that it is not under the window Thank you !!!!! Here is a link that might be useful: updated pics...See Moremaking murphy bed w/sliding bookshelves
Comments (2)I unerstand this can't be done with Ikea type bookcases--but we have some unfinished furniture stores in this area where the product is locally made--not shipped from China and they might have product that could be adapted... since the track system would not be used that often--certainly not even once a month on avg probably--barn door track systems that you see in some newer construction/design would certainly be strong enough to hold something like that I would think (not the kind that sliding closet doors use) the bookcases would be more stationery than rolling...but I take your point about need for proper construction due to weight of books themselves if nothing else... the point is that I would not order something like this that costs 3K for a wall/bed system on-line when --even if you spend that much to have it built on-site-- you can get a true "custom" construction and better control over materials they build these by their standard dimensions--we can't really see how well constructed they are or the actual quality of the wood/materials used... I would not spend that kind of money to order something w/o seeing at least a sample of the work--and there are none of the companies I found last night that have any product showroom in our area--DFW-- we have friend who is builder and he has some awesome trim carpenters...they could probably build this for us if they had a good blueprint with materials--but their deal is anything unfamiliar gets the price increased just because it is new--not necessarily any more difficult--just different--have a set of plans and material list would make it that much easier to get rational price from them... we just saw it last night--have to measure wall it would go on and determine some factors like closet door swing and window on that wall to see if it could be done with balance... although the house it would go in has two other bedrooms beside this one available for guests (we are empty nesters) there are some people who would prefer to sleep downstairs--and it would just make that room more flexible for me to use as my study/computer room... the master in this house is smaller than I would have really liked (owners made other design choices to limit its size) but there are other factors that we like--just looking for way to maximize potential......See Moreplease help me design my home office! need bookshelves
Comments (39)That's great you have some help. I was thinking about your office today because I am working on mine and we have a few similarities as far as size and furniture - except I don't have all the great closet space you have! I think once you have the additional furniture in there you can play with where the desk should be. The good thing is you can shuffle it around as much as you need to until you find a look that feels right. If you don't already have some, you should pick up some of those sliders that you place under furniture to help move it around - they make it really easy for one person to move things around to try various configurations. I have several sets and they have been invaluable! In some rooms, we lived with those darn sliders under our furniture for weeks as we tried, lived with, and then changed up where certain pieces of furniture went....See MoreHi Designers! Comments (95)I'm going back and forth on adding in some small streaks of the green and bits of silver. Here's what I'm thinking as of now: 1) Base coat - Color match to the beige/light gray in the pillow that comes with set (see picture of forest green comforter I added above.) 2) Add a FEW streaks ("strie"- the vertical lines), of the green and light gray (or whatever the "beige/light gray" pillow color is). I would add maybe 1 streak of each every 7 - 8 inches. I probably wouldn't even be using a teaspoon of each color for the entire wall. I doubt it would even show in the pictures, but when one is in the room, they would see a very subtle lines of the green and light gray. And if I even change the comforter, I could just paint over the green and light gray streaks. 3) Add the metallic paint (something light and "pearly") as the final coat on the headboard wall. 4) Paint the rest of the walls in the base coat (the beige/ light gray color matched from the pillow.) I really like the "drama" of the forest green comforter against the light walls. I also love that large gold metallic vase in @Molly 's picture. Thinking of doing something like that in a pewter. Now just have to find a massive vase that doesn't cost $300+ dollars....See Morezennifer
