All this talk about Lou's pizzelle and biscotti, I didn't understand what's the big deal. They are nothing more than simple cookies. I have had them from stores here before; sweet, crispy, not bad.

May be I could ask Lou to send me a few, but that would be too forward of me.

So I decided to buy a pizzelle maker and just use Lou's posted recipes to make them myself.

As I was checking out eBay, Amazon, A package came.

A big box of unbelievable pizzelles and biscotti! Lou must have read my mind.

I am telling you, people, don't trust Lou. Looking at the recipes that he has posted, no way you can make them taste so out of this world. I think Lou is not telling the whole secrete so that no one can make them as good as he can.

Those of you who have been lucky enough to taste Lou's goodies will agree with me. :-)

I totally agree about Lou having a secret to the success of his goodies and I'm one who grew up in an Italian family where biscotti and pizzelle were frequent treats.

Actually, it wasn't me to resurrected this old post. My B&B recipe isn't actually one. Yes, there is tumeric added for the yellow color. I primarily used a packaged mix from Ball for my B&Bs. Then, I add extra mustard seeds and celery seeds to each jar before cold packing the cuke slices. Spears may be OK too, but I like the texture of a crinkle cut slice. Beause I also like dill, I will also add a few dill seeds. As to the sugar required on the packet from Ball, I don't use any, but intead use a small amount of Splenda. It may take about a cup of Splenda to sweeten the B&B compared to a five pound bag of sugar. Mrs. Fannings is store bought B&B and are also yellow with lots of celery seeds added. They also use a little cider vinegar along with the white distilled. Because I may make double batches, I would use a B&B mix as well as a sweet pickle mix together. With the two, and the added spices it helps to round out the flavor. You could also cut down on the sugar, and mustard seed, the add some dill and see if that will entice them to try a B&B pickle.

Cathy: When they mentioned " Colorful ", I think they were speaking of you, Not your Clothes. In think a lot of the women might need their Glasses adjusted. I looked in a mirror to see what they were talking about. Nothing resembles what they said about me. If I knew all this was to transpire, I could have met you 3 hours earlier. And we would have had at least 4 more pictures. David; You are right !!! I should have worn the bright Pink Bathrobe and zapped her. Funny when I came out of the Park-a-teria, I got on my cell phone and asked Cathy where she was. She said," I'm in front of Whole Food Market and I'm wearing a Bright Pink top, Where are you ???" I said look straight ahead about 20 feet. Didn't buy anything in Whole Foods, because I didn't need anything. We ate out a lot at my sister's place. I even talked my BIL into Mac Donald's for a $1 Mac Chicken. He never had one and couldn't believe what we got for $1. Even ordered some to go. That's it for now. Talk at you later. LOU

Do you have access to a mass spectrometer? Silly question, you probably have one in your workshop. Maybe you can find out what the secret ingredients are.

How sweet! I make biscotti all the time.
They are great with coffee or tea. I always include them in my Christmas gift baskets.
I've never had pizzelle. I kind of know what they are.

I 'discovered' Pizzelles in the early 70's,
When a relative who had married into an Italian family
Brought a batch for a Christmas get-together.
Fell in love with them immediately!
She gifted me a Pizzelle iron,
So I've been making them off & on ever since.

I learned about Biscotti in the late 80's,
From the same friend.
For several years, I made it to sell
In an arts & crafts boutique co-op that I belonged to.

And to be perfectly honest,
I thought I did a pretty good job
with the recipes I had, on both.

Then Lou posted his recipes here.
Naturally, I had to try them.

Talk about good ! ! !
His Pizzelle recipe, especially,
Beats any other I have ever tried.
It is the only one I use now!

So if the ones he makes are even better. . . ..
Well, that's just plain hard to imagine!

Dcarch, you are one lucky young man! !

Of course. I also used my spectrum analyzer. Based on the graph, it appears that one of the secret ingredients might be vanilla ice cream.

If I were to hazard a guess as to 'secret ingredients'.
I would say there are actually three.

Love (for what he is doing)
Kindness (that comes from within)
And Generosity (towards all man kind)

Also the true ingredients of Christmas.

I just came across pictures of the biscotti and pizzelles that Lou sent me long ago. He also sent me a pizzelle maker. Very generous our Lou!

I think I saw this in a Chinese fortune cookie, "Give her a bag of pizzelles; you have fed her for today. Give her a pizzelle baker; and she wouldn't keep on asking you for more"

Funny you should mention that. I was talking to my DD, about the ice cream, in the Cheese Cake.
I only used Vanilla Ice Cream, because I always have it on hand.
Some still don't know you can sub that for Cream ???

Oh great Lou, Now I know why mine didn't turn out as good as yours. I just found this post this morning. Sure you left something out of your recipe. I know you did!!!! You are bad, bad, bad!!! I haven't had time to try them again so you better come through with the left out ingredient! Ha
