Nope you won't. You just plain will not freakin' believe what Deb sent me. I'm amazed. I'm floored. I'm already using it!

Yup, Deb sent me her slightly used Magic Mill. She says she seldom uses it and thought I'd get more use out of it. Since I'm making 300 dinner rolls for Amanda's wedding, plus the wedding cake, oh, you betcha I'll use it. So, I cranked it up:

I got my first couple dozen dinner rolls in the freezer already and more are on the counter cooling:

This thing is a MONSTER, it'll hold something like 25 cups of flour. The Zo perks right along, and can make about 3 dozen rolls per batch. This one can make more like 7 or 8 dozen per batch, it'll cut my batches down to 3 instead of 10 or 12.

I'm still amazed, speechless. In the same box she sent a small Krups waffle iron (which I've already used, I had gingerbread waffles for supper!). The timing was perfect, I was just thinking I'd make whole wheat waffles more often if I didn't have to drag out the big Villaware that makes cows, pigs, chickens and barns. I seldom have waffles for breakfast, but I like them a lot for supper.

Amanda is having three flavors of cake and a dessert table, and I'm responsible for all of those, so you can bet that I'll be using this baby! The day I unpacked it I had it running, the Zoji bread machine going, the big KitchenAid mixer going, the oven on and both the dishwasher and the washing machine working. It's a miracle I didn't blow the house up. Oh, and the coffee maker was going too, LOL, gotta have my quota of caffeine to keep up with everything I need to do before October 16.

What a great gift. I can't think of anyone here that would put that baby to better use than you Annie.

I've had my Magic Mill for 15 or 16 years and I would hate to be without it.

I have various experience in Starbucks too. From, here, take as much as you want, to looks like I am crazy. I hate that feeling of not knowing the reaction as well. So I just go by one Starbucks that rebags all their UCG and puts them in a basket with labels: Grounds for your Garden. The little label even has instructions about why it can be helpful for your garden and/or compost. I grab a few whenever I'm in there. Never offered a free drink though! That's too cool. My funniest experience was once I asked at a Starbucks and they gave me this HUGE garbage bag of UCG, must have been 30 or 40 pounds and the other patrons were looking at me weird so I told them that it was good for the garden. It's cool when someone with purple hair gives YOU weird looks. ;) My husband was a bit embarressed though, oh well. On the plastic thing, from what I've read there are different levels of "badness" of plastics which you can sometimes tell based on their number in the little recycling symbol on them. If I remember right I'm avoiding 3, 6, and 7 for the BPAs, but not strictly if you can tell I can't even remember. But I'm not really worried about it being in the grinds going into the compost. ;)

That's amazing, Mary! I think part of the reason that overwintered chrysalids make small butterflies is the actual process of overwintering - somehow, I think staying in a chrysalis a long time reduces them. That same thing happened to me with a BST one time - I think it overwintered for about 9 months! Anyway, if it's a male and you saw a female, I hope they find each other. My Mama PVS laid more eggs today, some on the a. serpentaria and some on the a. clematitis as well as the a. tomentosa. This gal is big and real black, only a little blue on top. The whole time she lays eggs, one of the big, newly emerged males keep flirting with her, spraying her with his perfume, I guess. MissSherry

Great find! There is a thrift shop at the end of my alley that benefits the old folks home across the street. When items don't sell or have some damage they put them in the dumpster. Walking the dog 2-3 years ago I noticed a great looking chandelier in the box. Perfect for my dining room. Dad zoomed home to get the car as the baby was heavy (solid brass) and I stood guard with Dylan until he came back. Some guy comes out of his yard and was going to take it, but I let him know it was MINE! This guy dives in often and into the donation box also, then has a garage sale several time in the summer. My free chandelier cost me glass bulb covers and $500 for the electrician. And for kicks I checked an upscale lighting store. Same lamp was selling for $2500!

Congratulations! What a wonderful surprise. Isn't it amazing how quilters, who have cranked out many of them, often do it for other people and are quite happy to win one for themselves. You appreciate the work a quilt takes. That tickles me. Nannykins, my husband won a beautiful, intricately stitched by hand whole cloth quilt the last year his church's quilting circle raffled one off. Everyone was gushing how 'lucky' he was. Hah. I think he bought .........no, I KNOW he bought half of the tickets so they'd make their quota knowing it was going to a good cause and figuring even at the price he paid, if he won he would have gotten a quilt worth well more than his investment.

How wonderful. There are some really wonderful people in this world!!! Many times we only hear the bad things about people. This is the best example of someone with a wonderful caring heart that I've ever heard! I'm so happy for you Annie and Deb I'm not sure I know you but ....bless you.

Wowee. What a nice gift, whatever it is. I am another one who never heard of a Magic Mill. I also have never figured out how to use my Cuisinart. Looks like Annie Had no problem using the MM.

Deb, what a nice, nice thing to do. I'll be emailing my address to you just in case you are cleaning out your jewelry drawer.

Now I've got to find that ebay picture.

HEY!!! What the heck????!!! That second picture of yours is worth a thousand words (or 44 different languages of instruction that the manual provided!!)!!! I didn't know you were supposed to put that scraper thingy in there like that!! Hahaha! See, I TOLD you that thing was NOT intuitive to ME!! I could make a small batch of something, but not a mega-batch, which is what I wanted it for! That doggone roller wheel just plastered everything up along the sides and didn't do ANY mixing! Now I see!! Even so...it's still too much for me!

I am BEYOND tickled that it works for you! The MM has already seen more use in your house than in mine! Woohooo! That baby is gonna be a workhorse at Chez Annie! Glad the waffle iron fits, too! My new waffle iron cranks out more waffles faster, so the masses aren't yelling at me like they were before!

Do you all remember this picture I posted when I got the Monster? What a good laugh!

(Here are the kids now (in the same order, hahaha):.... "Oh, Puhleeeez, Mom, stop taking pictures!!!"

Deb, after I read the two paragraphs of instructions a couple of times I figured out two things:

1. They need better instructions in fewer languages.

2. That the scaper thing went SOMEWHERE.

It was only in reading the bread recipe itself that it said the scraper turned the batter and the roller flattened it, to mimic the motions of kneading dough by hand.

Now, I haven't used it for anything except dough yet, so I guess I'll figure out whether I need it for anything else!

Elery wants to buy the grain mill part for it, he's just sure I'll want to grind (and grow) my own wheat.

Anyway, it was generous beyond words and it's already been used a couple of times, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Well, maybe I could send you those pink fuzzy handcuffs...

I've had my MM for about 10 years now & love it. Because it operates differently than traditional mixers there's a bit of a learning curve but once you've got it down...it's a beautiful thing! I've got the blender attachment but haven't added any of the others...yet.

No I don't believe it Annie! Very nice of you Deb, and you couldn't have found a better home for it. And Annie I can't believe all the cooking you do for people. You are always showing your love instead of just paying lip service - your daughters couldn't ask for more.

Waffle maker too? wow! I have a rotating waffle maker (littlest guy used one at a Comfort Inn when we were at a baseball tourney in MD) I'd love some new waffle recipes - think I'll start a thread and not hijack the love fest :)
