raehelen, I have been in the exact position as you. If you've ever followed my story, we ended up in court. I let the guy do his business and install incorrect cabinets KNOWING that they were incorrect. The judge in our case said to me, something to this effect, that part of the reason I was in the mess I was in with the cabinet maker was BECAUSE I KNOWINGLY LET HIM INSTALL incorrect drawers and cabinets!!!! It was a WTF court case. I was "letting him do his job" and was going to do as I was asked, "Would you just let me finish your kitchen and then we'll go through everything and you can make a punchout list?"

IF I had to do it again, hearing what is already happening to you, I would NOT ACCEPT ANYTHING, NOR OPEN ANY OF THE ITEMS IF POSSIBLE.

Who did you order from if you don't mind me asking?

Oh Raehelen, I hate stories like this and feel so bad for you. It really bites when people spend so much time researching, planning, and organizing only to have problems at the start. Pack it up and put it all back at the front door for pickup. You have waited this long for your kitchen so you may have to wait a little longer. Everything will come out beautiful in the end....it really will. Chin up and move forward.

Thanks for the kind words of sympathy! As soon as I realized another snaffu had occurred I wanted to post pics and ask help from my fellow GW TKO! But, I HAD to head to work, and as a coach, well, I gotta be there, and can't be late! :>)

Though we were all ready to start installing (we're DIY), of course DH got the night off, and everything is still sitting as delivered, not opened, in my living room.

Sherilynn, I HAVE followed your fiasco, but (touch wood) we're not in quite the same position. (Yet). I don't want to name names, cuz I still believe the actual kitchen place is going to bend over backwards to get everything right. Short story is: I am dealing with a small local place that has only been open a year or so (they were almost brand new when I started dealing with them). It is a group of industry people that joined together....blah blah blah, so that even though the company itself is new, the principals have been involved in this industry for a long time. The company that they ordered my cabinets from (in China)was a new supplier to them, and I DON'T think they are going to order again- mine was their first order. I don't have any issues with the quality of the cabinets themselves- gorgeous and for what I paid, a steal of a deal. But, measurements of some doors were off by ~ 1/16" and on frameless, unfortunately, you don't have that leeway (hinges moved to the max),so some doors had to be trimmed, and several individual cabinets came the wrong size or came as base cabinets instead of drawers. I honestly don't know if it was the fault of the person who ordered them (both have been fired), or the manufacturer. It doesn't really matter, cuz the Kitchen Company (KC) is trying to fix it. At first, the manager tried to make them himself- one worked out fine, the next was so bad we couldn't accept it, so KC agreed to hire a carpenter to do all the rest of the fixes. He came out twice, once with representatives of the KC (to make his quote/estimate for approval), and then again with his assistant to measure and make final list.

Now, while he was here, perhaps 30-45 minutes, he must have received 20+ phone calls. The guy is busy! To be fair to him, if I wanted plywood boxes with staples, these are probably the best quality I could get. They ARE very well made- the finish is immaculate- and these are JUST the boxes, I haven't seen the doors or drawer fronts yet.

I phoned the KC this morning, and the manager said he'll get right on it, and that this wasn't what I asked for and was expecting. We'll see what transpires once he talks to the carpenter.

Quick update-

Carpenter admits he made a mistake, (after first telling KC that was the way he was told to do it- Luckily, luckily, KC rep that was here had written Dove-tailed down in his notes, and that was in my ever-expanding file- think I have a whole drawer of my own now :>)

They are coming this afternoon, to pick up drawer boxes... this is me doing the happy dance- sun is shining...life is good! :>)

Raehelen, I'm glad that they're fixing this for you! Also I wanted to point out that in reality you may not like the high sides of that trash pullout once you realize how high you'll need to lift that heavy recycling bin to get it out of there. Something to think about at least.

But I'm on my way out to shop, and one of the things on my list is to buy two tall canisters to fit in there, one for recycling, one for deposit returns.

But, even if I kept it as one container, doesn't really get too heavy- mostly empty plastic and air, and I have to lift/carry it anyways out of the kitchen into the garage, so unless I'm missing something, I don't think it will be an issue.
