My new LG Wave Force washer Review
Comments (150)Dont you think that if they had left the machine alone it would still be fine today, other than the plastic squeak? I know as I said before that the old Calypsos had this type hanging system(and possibly GE) and I have heard the Calypso make the squeak and creak noise. As I told you before I hate to have something new with a "flaw" but I have also felt that sometimes I was too picky and would convince myself I needed to get it checked out only to be sicker(& madder)after service. A car for example, have a small rattle, carry in for service, they take half the car apart to fix it, then when you start home you no longer have that rattle, you have three more to go with it where they took things apart--now that is my luck--and I am thinking"Why on earth didnt I live with one small rattle but it is too late to back up then". Just go forward from here and I think I would try another one like you have. It seems like a great washer and you know that the LG made F/L didnt last you very long so maybe this next one will?. OH and about Sears using Electolux now instead of LG for front-loaders, I have always been told it depends on who bid the cheapest to build them. Not sure if that is true but I have heard that. Maybe you need to start looking for the 57 Lady Kenmore!...See MoreThinking of buying LG steam washer but not LG dryer...
Comments (11)bntroberts-Do you own this machine? I would like to reply to your points so please bear with me. 1. I wasn't planning on stacking things on top of my washer, so the fact that it doesn't have a porcelain top doesn't bother me. After all it sits on a spiffy stand with a pull out drawer. 2. We have tried the steam wash, but we certainly do not use it with every load. I am impressed with the amount of water it DOES NOT use. That, combined with the fact that I only have to use tablespoons of detergent was the real reason we purchased this machine. I appreciate the replies to this thread, and we did buy the the washer. We are currently using it with our GE dryer and have had no problems. bntroberts, if you read my original post, it was a question regarding the use of the LG washer with a non-LG dryer. No where did I mention or ask for opinions on this machine nor did I mention how much I hoped to save on our energy bills. Extensive research was done prior to this purchase, and I'll admit I was its biggest skeptic. I have since fell in love with my washer and to have it called a "big piece of crap." feels like a hit below the belt. Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion but they should be expressed in a mature manner....See MoreLG Washer Owners useful cleaning tips
Comments (17)An additional point to mention: Thanks to everyone's advice on this forum, we learned many great tips that manuals either don't mention or they gloss over. Several posters have mentioned to empty the remaining water from the detergent dispenser in order to reduce the chance of mildew. Along with wiping down the gasket, leaving the door open, etc., we dutifully emptied the detergent dispenser (usually about a teaspoon or so of water left in there.) Only recently did we accidentally find that we can remove not only the dispenser that holds detergent, but the entire drawer that includes the detergent, bleach, and softener dispensers. And when we empty the entire drawer, we easily get a quarter cup of water. That's way more water than what's left around the gasket or on the inside of the door. This may have been mentioned in previous posts and we just missed it, but maybe mentioning it again might help a few more folks. Of course, we may just be the last folks in the universe to find this out! :)...See MoreReview of LG3677HW (FL Combo Washer/Dryer)
Comments (5)Hi Peter-- Thank you for your note. Yes, I have read about your experience--unfortunately, not until after I had already ordered my machine. (I was active on the Forum last fall, then decided to come back and post my review as one always wonders what happened to people and what they decided and how it worked out) It was then that I read your posts. What a nightmare, indeed! I am hoping that if I need service, Best Buy will come through for me. I chose Best Buy because I noticed that they had a lot of LG machines on the floor--washers, dryers, refrigerators. Using Laudry Forum advice, I asked the manager of large appliances: do you have experienced repair people for LG? He looked surprised and said: Yes, of course. LG is one of our biggest sellers and so we have a support system in place. That reassured me. I hope I don't rue my trust. In any case, I do hope that you find a good replacement machine. I did not respond to your post asking for suggestions because I don't have much to offer. I just know that I was going to go with Thor, but Thor, it seems, was even worse than LG; see my post last fall in the Combo Washer/Dryer thread. No response to my email, and when I actually called, they were annoyed and could never give me a single name of a single repairman. And I live in Chicago! Come on! The Askos scare me bec. of report of leaks from them. Equator seems kind of cheap. Maybe Bosch or Miele for you? MMK...See Morejkalin196511
