Graduation, I think it is Food Related

I missed my Granddaughters Graduation and Dinner, last weekend, because of Physical injuries.

She graduated from Temple University.

Bill Cosby was also there, at the Commencement exercises.

I will take her out to another Dinner, when I get down, maybe next week.

Had to put in the Photos they sent me, of her and the little Queen ( my Great Granddaughter ).

I am really proud of her accomplishments.

A working Mom and studing to gain a College Degree.

The little one was at the dinner too.

I made it to the GGD-s Christning a couple weeks ago.

I don't blame you for bragging, your daughter is beautiful and your little granddaughter is precious. I commend your daughter for getting her education.

I have been to Brasil many times, life is not easy there for the poor, unlike what this article seems to be stating. I have also been to several socialist countries and the average quality of life is much lower then what the poorest American would accept here. There's no such thing as a free ride, anywhere or anytime. "Peoples Restaurants," hmmm...where have I heard that equaltarian term before? I'll stick with free choice even if it costs me more then 50 cents a meal.

Here's where I heard about the hashbrowns in waffle iron (have since seen it several places): Hashbrown Waffles by Waffleizer.com Directions: 1. Wash and peel the potatoes. Shred them and squeeze them dry with a towel. (This ensures that your potatoes brown nicely.) 2. In a mixing bowl, add the potatoes, followed by salt and pepper to taste. 3. Spread about a teaspoon of butter on the waffle iron. (A silicone pastry brush works well; neither you nor the brush will melt while you spread the butter around the extremely hot waffle iron, and any nonstick finish on your waffle iron will be spared.) 4. Pile the shredded potatoes into the waffle iron and close the lid. 5. After a few minutes, you may wish to squeeze down the lid a bit. Check the potatoes after 10 minutes. In my waffle iron on the medium heat setting, the potatoes showed golden-brown highlights after about 15 minutes. But yours will vary, possibly by quite a bit. 6. Carefully remove the potatoes from the waffle iron. Serve them with grated cheese or sour cream. You could also serve waffled hash browns with ketchup, alongside a waffleburger. But that takes serious commitment to the concept. And I would worry about you a little. I used mine as the base for a fried egg, topped with shavings of three-year Gouda. It took me about two minutes to clean my plate. And, no, I did not waffle the egg. Not that one, anyway. Cooking bacon came from Alton Brown's show.

Isn't it great so many places are giving away/selling cheap the tote bags? I like the recycled soda bottle ones, altho' I'm still partial to sturdy canvas. (A friend of mine made a good 10 bags out of a painters drop cloth. Talk about cheap!) I don't have a picture of them, but last year I found $1 totes at Garden World in all sorts of hideously bright colors. I got three for a friend in eye-gashingly garish yellow, and painted the symbol for radioactive material on the side. You don't overlook them very easily! I still get plastic bags ocassionally, if I forget, or if I have ice cream or chicken. (Baggers are pretty well trained to automatically wrap chicken in a plastic bag no matter what else you've got.) I also use them for kitchen garbage and to clean out the litter boxes, so I figure I get at least one more use out of them. But I've definetly pared down my consumption of them. Someone mentioned on one of these forums that the standard practice in Europe is to charge shoppers for plastic bags -- that might be the fastest way to encourage people to bring their own!

Nope, no Grand Champion ribbon for The Princess this year, although she got 6 blue ribbons and the rest 2nd and 3rd place, so everything got a ribbon, but not that big purple one. Her brother, however, got one for the leeks he helped me dehydrate last year, go figure. Also a first for garlic, a 2nd for red, white and blue potatoes and a 3rd place for his picture of his dog, LOL. Partst, an Elephant Ear is a big round of sweet dough, dropped into fat and deep fried, then sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. They are always bigger than the traditional white paper plate they are served on. The Princess and her Brother each had one today, and Madi and Maci shared one. Ashley had one of her own, topped with apple pie filling, but couldn't finish it. Amanda had a caramel apple. Then they all took a couple of rides on the "Tilt-a-Swirl", as Madi calls it, and no one got sick, LOL. Cotton candy for the ride home after petting the cows and horses, the sheep and goats, the pigs and chickens. All washed down with fresh lemonade, a County Fair staple. Some dart throwing and fishing for plastic fish with magnets resulted in several stuffed animals. We'd have stayed longer but Ashley was done after about 3 hours. Me too, and I didn't even eat an elephant ear! Annie

they are both beautiful. Congratulations to the graduate, I went back to college when my girls were both small, so I know what that entails. Good for her!

You have two very beautiful girls here Lou. Please add my Congratulations to your Granddaughter, she has truly accomplished a wonderful goal. I remember what it was like to be a Mom with a child under a year old when I went back to grad school.

Luigi, please congratulate your granddaughter on her accomplishments!

In regards to great-granddaughter Savannah, it seems apparent that life imitates art. By that I mean, Savannah smiles sweetly in every photo I've seen of her, and I wonder if she was named after the movie, "Savannah Smiles."

That's a perfect proof and example of what can go very wrong in coming up with conclusions and assumptions on the internet. (like in the other thread).

I never said Lou is not extreme handsome. LOL!

Actually, my first thought was that she looks like her Grandpa. That baby is adorable. You are one lucky Grandpa and Great-grandpa, Lou.
