Thank you! Beautiful horse, BTW, he's got better hair than I do, LOL. I've been having some problems logging in this morning, I thought Gardenweb had fixed that, but apparently not. So far today I've been carrying old paint cans up from the basement, the County is having their "hazardous waste" clean up on Saturday. I've made coffee, returned some pop cans, weeded the herb garden. Elery is in Jackson picking up some more of his clothes and garage stuff. Yes indeed, the party is going wild here in White Cloud. (grin) We'll have a cookout on Saturday, here at my house. Dave's birthday was the 22nd. Elery and I had an anniversary on the 10th, Ashley's anniversary was the 17th, Elery's son Chris had a birthday on the 24th and Ashley's birthday is June 6. We're having one big cookout and then they're going to help me uncover the pool. We do know how to celebrate here... Thank you, thank you, everyone. I went to Amanda's on Saturday, the kids and I played on the Slip N Slide while Elery fried a turkey and Amanda and mother made fruit salad and potatoes. Makayla and I planted 6 strawberry plants in her raised garden bed and Madi splashed in the water. We had lemon cake with cream cheese frosting for dessert. Of course, first I had to walk that mile of fence because I had a short where the deer had run through. Darned things, they can jump 8 feet or something, but they never jump the fence, they go through, no matter how many markers I put on the wire so they can see it. Grrr. Rats on hooves, I need to eat more of them. I finished planting the garden, putting in two dozen sweet potato plants, so that fills up my half acre of tilled soil. AnnT, the Beltline Bar seems like one of those places that never changes, it's been the same forever. Elery and I have been married 10 years and he'd never been there, so it's been that long since I was there. It hasn't changed except they used to have that plaster statue of a rearing horse out front, and now that's gone. I looked for the horse, that was my landmark, and it wasn't there! Elery's middle son, Chris, was talking about restaurants in Grand Rapids and I mentioned that there were hundreds. He agreed, but said that somehow, no matter what he planned, when he was in Grand Rapids he ended up at the Beltline. Not gourmet food, of course, much more American than Mexican, but still good... It was pretty much a perfect day for me, and today I spent the day in the garden, so two days that have made me very, very happy, as well as all the good wishes here. Thank you all again. Annie

LOL, Jack, I need to get my cows one of those! FOAS, I hope your wife and daughter had a very happy birthday too. Thank you, everyone, for the good wishes. Naturegirl, unfortunately I did not get the good weather you wished for. We had a frost. (sigh) The cabbage, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, etc. were just fine. Peppers and tomatoes were not so happy. Elery and I found every bucket, basket, hotkap, cardboard box we could lay our hands on and covered those plants. The zucchini were just starting to peek through, and I think I'll have to replant those, but everything else was just touched or escaped unscathed. So far... The cake was good. Wet, but good. Not custard-like, but soggy-cake-like. Not bad soggy, but soggy. I added a layer of dulce de leche because I had a can of that in the pantry, and it was a good addition, I think. I took pictures but have not loaded them on the computer because I've been busy saving the garden and entertaining Mother. I will, though, I promise! Sleevendog, I'm thinking I might like that rhubarb version better, I'm definitely going to try that, so thanks for the chicken AND the cake recipe! Elery built me two new planter boxes for herbs, I got a Tractor Supply gift card (Elery says you might be a redneck if most of your wardrobe comes from the farm stores, LOL), a new tarragon plant, a sprinkling can from The Princess, which she painted to say "Grandma's Grow Op - Water Supply" on one side and "Property of Ranchito Costa Lotta" on the other side. Of course, it was a plastic sprinkler and she used acrylic paints and when she tried to peel the stencil off all the paint peeled off and so the can is again green plastic, LOL. Ah well, it's the thought, you know. My brother called twice asking whether he had told me happy birthday yet and my Mother kept asking who was having a birthday, LOL. They're both confused, which is kind of interesting since they live in the same house... Ashley and the girls will come over later this week, after Mother goes home. And so, I can stretch the birthday celebration out maybe all week! Annie

Happy Birthday to a modern day Wonder Woman (fix the fence, bake the bread, make the jam, yogurt, sourkraut, tend to the garden, livestock, and chickens, drive the tractor, etc. and that's just her morning!!!)Whew!!!

LOL, Sherry, I do still have family in Canada, so I can speak Canadian, Yah.

Elery had to work today, so he went home last night. We started celebrating yesterday anyway, a friend of mine who is a retired Department of Natural Resources office took his wife, Elery and I out salmon fishing. Yup, we caught fish too! I got a 6 pound King Salmon and Elery caught a lake trout just a shade bigger than that. We also caught 3 that weren't measured in pounds, they were measured in inches, LOL, from 12 inches to 14 inches, but they'll make great eating. We had a blast.

Today I'm taking the Princess and Bruvver to Dairy Queen for ice cream, I have a coupon for a free blizzard on my birthday, LOL. Tonight my mother is taking me out to dinner at "The Gate". It's a bowling alley/restaurant/bar where Ashley works, so I'll be seeing all of the family except Elery on my birthday. Well, stepmom either. (grin)

I had to get my license plates and license renewal on Wednesday, so I got the "Happy Birthday from the State of Michigan, you owe us $102", so I knew it really was my birthday.

Elery says for my birthday gift we're going to Canada this summer to visit Sharon and Clive! Oh yeah, that's worth waiting for.

Lars, be careful what you say, Elery is talking about coming to California again this winter, because it's the only time he gets to see his grandsons.

Sharon, I loved the bears!

Brenda, I'm Wonder Woman, all right. I spend my time wondering why I do all that stuff. :-)

Sol, don't worry, I plan to do whatever I want and since I'm the only one in the family that takes pictures, well, there'll be no evidence!

Well, I'm home and my birthday is over in about 14 more minutes.

I had a raspberry chocolate truffle blizzard at Dairy Queen and the Princess "needed" a sprinkled donut from Dunkin' Donuts, so I got coffee there. Amanda, David and the kids joined me for dinner, Ashley waited on us, Mom bought me dinner, fish and chips. It was OK. Mom had two glasses of wine and David had a couple of Jack Daniels and Mountain Dew (I know, EWWWW), so they had a great time celebrating my birthday. I had iced tea. (grin)

It was great fun, just what a birthday should be, and tomorrow Makayla is going to plant pumpkins and sunflowers and Amanda is going to help me with the tomato plants, so I don't have to do them myself. Oh yeah, birthdays are fun!

Chase, we'll make plans after you get home, get unpacked and recover, LOL, that could take a while!

Happy Birthday Annie! Sounds like you had a good few days :) How did you like the raspberry blizzard? I only indulge in DQ once in a blue moon and when I do, it's usually a peanut buster parfait preferable with chocolate ice cream. But I really really like chocolate and raspberry so I just may have to try that next time. Hope you have a great rest of the weekend :)

Maggie, I'm a Gemini, sign of the twins. There's the "me" you all know, I'm just Annie. My friends and family know that side of me too.

However, at work and when dealing with the public, I'm "Angela", or "The Pitbull". Definitely a good side and an evil side and I'll let you decide which is which. (grin)

Tracey, I liked the raspberry ice cream but the pieces of chocolate truffle made it just too rich. I ate about half and gave the rest to Amanda. She couldn't finish it either, it was just too sweet.

Frankly, I like plain vanilla the best.

Colleen, isn't Australia a day behind us or something? So you're probably right on time.

I went to the farm today and planted a flat of tomatoes, some sweet red peppers, some Tabasco and Serrano peppers, eggplant and helped the Monkey Princess plant her sunflowers and pumpkins. That's the last of the garden, finally in, I've been planting for about a month now, the potatoes are already nicely up, so are onions and cabbage and I pulled the first radish today. Then I picked up a pitchfork and headed for the barn and shoveled the calf pens for a while.

The celebration didn't last long, that's for sure. Elery will be here tonight, maybe I can stretch it out for a couple more hours. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)
