Thanks for all the birthday wishes and greetings! Dinner last night went well, but DB forgot to bring his camera. I thought he would be able to use his phone, but he didn't bring that either :(. We'll try to take pictures this week-end, however. For dinner I had filet mignon, medium rare, and it was huge. I ate half of it and took the other half home, which I think will reheat fine, since I left the middle. I like eating the crusty outside parts first, and so I can make a new crust on the leftover part, which looks completely rare. I had garlic potatoes and broccoli (I ate all the broccoli first) as sides, and Kevin ordered the two lobster dish that was a special of the day. It was supposed to be an appetizer since it was a la carte, but he had it as a main course and ordered a side salad. I had New England clam chowder as my first course, which I really liked, and I gave DB half of my garlic potatoes, as the portions were huge. We even have a couple of lobster claws left over, which I will have later today. The restaurant is one year older than I am, minus two days, and they had a picture of Liberace at the entrance, and so I guess he ate there. Lars

I'm definitely still celebrating, so no problem with being late to the party - it's still going on today!! The stove is scheduled to arrive today between 2:45 and 4:45 PM Pacific Time, and so it's not due for another hour and a half at the very earliest. I cleared a path, and now all I have to do is finish cleaning the rest of the kitchen, which is not essential, but will be nice. We got most of the path cleared yesterday, but there really wasn't a whole lot we had to do. Everything I moved today is easily portable - a couple of things are on casters, and so they roll in and out of place. It might be too dark by the stove is in place to take pictures today, but I can always use a flash. I think winter is over, however, as it is supposed to be 75Â° by tomorrow, but it will still be cool enough here for me to do some serious baking! Actually, it's usually not hot in the summer either - and anyway I have A/C. I'm still excited about the stove! Lars

I got a card (late) from my boss (the owner of the company) today, but that was only the second one I got this year, and the other one was from a co-worker. Here I do not know how you tell if it is someone's birthday - I do not think it is as personal here as it was before. I do not think my birthday is on my profile here, but Scott knew it was my birthday because it was on FB, which I seldom visit. Sally, I try to make my butter cookies every Christmas also - partly because they are so easy, and I like simple cookies. I'll have to see how my pie is today. I used a metal pan instead of Pyrex, and the crust slumped a bit during the first baking, but I tried to push it back up the sides before it cooled. I had thought that I always used a metal pan, but maybe not this one, which is non-stick. Next time I'll try one of my new 8" metal pans. I think the pan I used for this one was too large, but it was 8" diameter at the bottom. I guess I'm supposed to measure the top diameter instead. Lars

My birthday is tomorrow!! What time zone are you in, Jessy?? It's only 9:17 p.m. here.

Looks like I will be cooking for my own birthday this year. I'll explain later. I wanted to make some candy to give to people at work for my birthday - I thought at my age I should be giving presents on my birthday instead of giving them, but I spent too much time shopping this week-end. I wasn't food shopping, and so it was hard work.

Happy Birthday Lars.

Jessica always starts the Birthday thread "Gardenweb" time which is three hours earlier than West Coast time. Means you get to celebrate three hours longer. Just enjoy!!!

I'm sure it's your birthday by now. I'm on South Padre Island using Elery's little tiny Aspire One laptop and it's not easy to use, so excuse the mistakes.

Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes! It really brightens up a Monday!!

We bought a tuna steak at the market yesterday, and Kevin will be grilling that for me, and so I actually don't have to cook today, although I might make the side dishes. I was going to make myself a dessert yesterday, but I got a late start. Kevin and I ended up buying new TVs for our bedrooms (His birthday is in three weeks - also a Pisces), and we got 32" flat screen TVs to replace the hulking 10 year + old ones. I think the TV in my bedroom was over 15 years old, and it was starting to turn itself off at times. Kevin's was about 10 years old, but it was very small. Mine was big (it was in the living room before we got widescreen there), and it got great reception once I put the digital converter box on it. I'm keeping that one in the garage for now.

My birthday frequently falls on Mardi Gras, and so I'm always happy about that, but some years it falls on Ash Wednesday, and that's not so nice. I was in New Orleans one year when my birthday was Ash Wednesday, and I decided not to repeat that experience. In addition, I was born on my parents' wedding anniversary, and they went to New Orleans for their honeymoon, which was at Mardi Gras.

Sorry I don't have anything more exciting to tell you, but I appreciate your thoughts and wishes!!

Thanks for the late wishes too! And I especially want to thank Annie for making the effort to greet me from Texas - that is very special to me.

I took off from work today because I was really tired, and I don't have anything really pressing to do there. I will need to get back tomorrow, however. For some reason, I woke up at 2:00 a.m. today and couldn't get back to sleep, and so when it was time to get ready for work, I was extremely tired. This let me celebrate Mardi Gras, I guess.
