Thanks for these wishes!! I was not expecting this and had to spend the afternoon at the doctor's office, after which I was not motivated to do much else. I told Kevin we would celebrate this week-end since mid-week is not the best time. We are also planning to replace our sofa with two lounge chairs, and this will be our birthday presents to each other. I think our old sofa has been bad for my hip.

Weather was warm, sunny, and beautiful yesterday, and there will be more of the same the rest of this week. My sister in Texas said that a cold front was moving into Texas even though it had been warm there last week.

p.s.-if you don't already, remember to change your car seat position monthly...if you do a fair bit of driving. Mine has some bells and whistles, seat can go up and down bit and tilt, back has a spin lumbar thing, and of corse the up and back a bit.

For a chair look at Ekornes Stressless. Some, well most, are pretty ugly but a few are nice and light looking, the leather ones. Very comfortable. Easy to get in and out of. (just a thought)

I do very little driving - my commute is 1.3 miles, which takes about four minutes, and so I can go home for lunch. Perhaps I should adjust the passenger seat in Kevin's truck, however.

As you may know, I am a furniture designer by profession, and so I could have custom chairs made (might still be too expensive for me), but I was planning to go to Blueprint to see what they have. It might be nice to have an adjustable one, however, which I had not considered before.

Sopranos,, BrokeBackMnt, Eternal Sunshine...etc,etc. I'm referring to Gabriel Burnes character on the tiny show, InTreatment, where he had so much time in a chair...50 choices and he picked the Ekornes for that endless time...in a chair...and he had, at the time, horrendous back troubles...a nice chair...

It looks like I'm going to be freezing a lot of my lemons, as my tree is pretty much loaded at this point, and it won't be later in the year. I freeze the lemons whole and then defrost them in 10 second intervals in the MW - practically as good a fresh, but they do get a bit softer, which is great for limes, a bit less so for lemons, as it makes it a bit more difficult to zest.

Nice to know that you are a fellow designer, Sleevendog! At one time I had hoped to be a set designer, and when I first moved to L.A., I was across the street from what had been MGM studios in Culver City, and I could see the MGM lion on top of one of their buildings from my kitchen window. It was no longer MGM by then, but the lion was still there, although it has been missing for some time. Kevin works there now and it is Sony Studios, but he unfortunately is not in any of the design positions. When I was a clothing designer in San Francisco, I also designed and made costumes for the stage, but never for movies.

I will try to check out all of the stores recommended - I really should replace an office chair at home as well, now that I see more interesting options. I really wish I could get some of the dining chairs I designed for my house - or at least an occasional chair, but they would have to give me a deep discount.

Thanks for the votes! But I am very far from being a politician and do not like making speeches. I had to take a speech class when I was getting my interior design degree, and I had trouble keeping my speeches down to six minutes. The professor knocked the grade down one letter for each minute a student would go over the six minutes. My first speech was titled "18th Century British Fashion, and How it reflected Class in Society of that Period". History of fashion was one of my favorite subjects. Later, I gave a speech on "Mannerist Architecture of the Late Italian Renaissance" for extra credit, to make up for going over the six minutes on the first speech.

Try to imagine if Jacqueline Kennedy had become president!
