Wow, I haven't been here in a long time. I had an email that the ownership changed and that I should "confirm" my account. I did not click through the email, but went to the site and found this to be the case. I still see a lot of familiar "handles" here, which is nice! I hope everyone is well. I'll have to try and get in here and explore some when not at work. I do get to see Ann's lovely Facebook posts.

Speaking of FB, according to it, it is Lars' birthday today. So, happy birthday Lars if you are here!

Thanks, Scott! Yes, today is my birthday, and you are one of the few who noticed, although I have not checked FB yet. I normally go there only once a week (or less often), but I will go today, since they announce very loudly when you have a birthday.

Kevin gave me a nice apron (he gave it to me yesterday, since I won't see him again until late today), and my sister sent me a small package with three items - a cut-proof glove (different from the one I already have, and so that is good), an unusual spatula (looks like a putty knife), and some onion goggles, which may or may not work, but they will be less cumbersome than the swim mask and snorkel I wear when making Habanero sauce. From the Habanero chilies, it is very obvious that breathing the fumes is what causes irritation, which is why a snorkel is necessary.

We may or may not go out to dinner tonight, depending on when Kevin gets home. Yesterday morning I started pizza dough to have for dinner, but then I decided that I wanted to make popcorn for the Oscars, and so I put the pizza dough in the fridge, although it will keep for a couple of days. I did make a lime pie for my birthday, and I need to make some whipped cream to put on top of that this evening. I had thought that I had a lot of limes on my tree, but I only had lemons, and so I had to use limes that I had stored in the fridge. I got a whole bunch of them last week, but now there are almost none on the tree.

Thanks so much for remembering, Scott! If you like, you can come over for some pie!

Hi Carol, glad you're back, ok, and congrats on the new computer. I've got one with those big screens, they are really fantastic, but I'm so used to getting around fast on my pc, I mainly still use that. The new one is a lot different, I've learned to do a lot of things already, but it's like learning Windows again from the ground up and frustrating to have to look up how to do the simplest little thing. My daughter loves to watch youtube videos on it with her little boy. The sound drives me nutz, and I found how to turn it up or down in the system controls. Got fed up with that, looked it up, and see there are two keys where the function keys are on my pc for adjusting the volume up or down. Very slick. Simple things like that I get stuck for awhile. I think I WS'ed my crazy daisies in about February 2 years ago, planted the whole jug hos. Am almost positive I didn't spring sow them. Think they bloomed the first year, too. Mine have all different variations. Can send you some more seeds in the fall if I mark a choicer bloom or several. I notice my New England Purple Dome Asters have seeds up the wazoo. I don't know if it's too late to collect them but think I will but won't have time to mess with trades until I get caught up on other things. I'll make sure they are dried out well and seal them up for later.

Oh, Paula, bless your heart, honey! I guess it rained 15 inches in the last few days. And wound up going down to 40 last night, and I drug out my sweat shirt for this morning. What you show is the way it used to be in my Back40 after a rain. So I hauled in some dirt and spread the landscaping fabric, and then covered it with lots of bags of cypress mulch. One side effect of this is that the slugs are not comfortable on that coarse mulch, I suppose. Because out there I find no slugs. Around the edges, against the fence, I've found a few. And that is where I place the bait now. Hope to see you back in business soon, Paula. We miss your pictures and your experiences with the hosta. Everything is soaked here. But very few soft spots where there is no mulch. I love mondo grass and liriope because their root systems are so supportive over soft ground.

Beautiful pictures. I planted 3 this year and they didn't come up. My friend said I should have dug them up and checked the tuber. Didn't. She is having her open house this week with 800 dahlias. She sells the tubers in the Spring and people can tell her which ones they like when they come and look and place an order in advance.
