OMG I got the coolest box from Linda (Doucanoe). A bunch of my favorites! For ÂregionalÂ, I got a

made from wild rice, one of my favorite grains. We like weekend hot breakfasts so this will fit right into our menu! And to go with my waffles, some yummy looking maple syrup made by a family not far from Linda. How cool! Next, handmade, and you know what that means Â from Linda Â

My favorite color, cobalt blue! Linda, tell me you made that just for me. The card next to is is a photo taken by a local artist Â Linda says she likes bald eagles. Last but not least is theÂerÂfabulousÂeat your hearts outÂ.

Very fitting for me, ya think? DS #1 who rolled his eyes when the box got here finally cracked up when he saw that one. ItÂs a book full of recipes for a "Babe In Total Control of Herself", got it? The inside says its for Âall the wives and mothers who can juggle a busy lifestyle and still manage to put home-cooked meals on the table each dayÂ. ThatÂs me! (yeah, IÂm busy, er, reading the forum day and nightÂ.) Linda included a lovely note explaining her selections and a map showing where all the things come from. Hmmm, I may just have to come up one day to check them all out.

Beautiful plate! Any thoughts yet on what you are going to do with it?

I am not familiar with the rice waffle mix, sounds interesting.

Kathy, Wild Rice needs a longer cooking time. You'll know it's done when it kind of breaks open and "curls". Hard to explain, but you'll know it when you see it! LOl It stays a bit crunchy (sort of) and doesn't get sticky like white rice. Has a nice nutty flavor. Tracey, if you can't find it let me know. I will send you some. Linda

Lori, I have somewhat small fingers myself, and so it fits comfortably on my hand. I wanted to start peeling something with it as soon as I got it, but I didn't have anything to peel! I plan to try it on apples and potatoes, when I get some. I tested the strainer, and it works fine. At first I thought the holes might be too small or not enough of them, but that is not the case. It looks very pretty hanging on a rack with my other utensils. I plan to install the magnetic knife holder this week-end, when I can get DB to help. I don't like using hammers or screwdrivers, but he does. I'm also going to use some of the wasabi-ginger sauce this week-end when we grill outside - it's gotten quite a bit cooler here now - it's 70° and overcast - not quite warm enough to hang out laundry, but my ginger plants will like it. Duane, I too can't wait for fresh tomatoes with some salt. That is my absolute favorite as well. I bought my sister a gift box of salt from the Himalayan salt site. Not only were the varied salts wonderful (the block of pink salt particularly), but the packaging was lovely as well. Sherrmann - that is really interesting. It must be some weird taste thing, but it sounds like his body has found a way to compensate. I can understand being sensitive to fructose, the sugar in fruits (does he eat other sweet things?), but the vegetable thing is weird. Do they take suplements? Getting your vit and min through whole foods is the best bet, but it sounds like for them supplements might be a good idea. We also have deer wandering through the property, but they've stayed farther away since we got the dumb mutt. They're clearly not afraid of her, since they just look at her when she barks, but they do keep a respectful distance now. AM

Is that the perfect cookbook for you or what?? Oh jeez, too funny. I love the glass -- is it a plate or a tray or a trivet? Whatever, it's gorgeous. Neat-o waffle mix and maple syrup. Lotza good breakfasts ahead for the Evil Family.

This is about as perfect a fit as I've seen! LOL! Great job Linda! You couldn't have hit the nail on the head any better than that. Beautiful seclection of gifts for our EJ.

That's a wonderful selection. The glass piece is very lovely, wild rice waffles with maple syrup sounds yummy and the cookbook title is just great!

Hmmm. I thought that meant Boys I'm Taking Charge Here. Well, that's my version, LOL. You know what's really funny is that Nancy (wizardnm) and I saw that same cookbook while shopping together and both said it would be perfect for Jessica.

The glass is beautiful and I'd eat nearly anything if you cover it with maple syrup.

LOL at the cookbook selection. That's not one I've seen prominantly displayed at any of the bookstores I''ve been to, not even on the bottom shelf. Well, I bet it'll be fun to cook with. Wild rice waffles sound interesting, and healthy to boot. The plate is gorgeous! Good job, Linda.

Jessy, I am glad it all made it there okay and that you like everything.
Funny story about the cookbook, I actually bought it a week before the swap partner names were announced. I thought it would make a great swap gift. The irony of it all came to a head when I learned I was sending to Jessica! I actually laughed out loud when I found out!
The glass "whatever" is a plate! LOL I wanted to make something cobalt blue and dichroic, but I e-mailed Oly and found out Jessy doesn't wear jewelry, so wasn't sure how to incoprporate the dichroic aspect. So this plate is more decorative, or can be used to hold cupcakes, soap, a candle, or whatever.

I am thinking I may tap my maples this spring and learn how to make syrup. If I do, you all know what will be in future swap packages! LOL

I love glass, and that plate is really a beautiful blue! Linda, as always, your work is so lovely. Jessy, you'll have to let us know how pancakes are made with wild rice flour... what a perfect regional item! And the cookbook, well, what can you say about that!

I just knew Linda's parcel was going to have some of her glass in it! Been waiting and waiting to see who the lucky person would be! Gorgeous piece Linda!

Best cookbook selection yet!! How fantastic to get handmade glass - it looks like a tray to me too. I also love wild rice and had no idea it had been made into a pancake mix - perfect local item, I think.

The plate is beautiful and the cookbook choice is a hoot. I tried to find out more about it on Amazon but while they have one for sale there was no description of it. Maple syrup and wild rice pancakes sound delish to me.

It's a lovely package Linda, and you know Jessy the pressure is on to share some more about that book.

Wow - didn't know you could make pancakes from wild rice. Hmm... DH is from Minnesota - will have to inquire about that one. Or better yet, perhaps you just want to share some with me, like half the bag. And of course, can't have pancakes without syrup so please just pour half of that lovely bottle into a jar and send it too. Okay? Oh and that cookbook is, well, dedicated to me - just look inside the cover. At least I was told it would be. I didn't get my copy yet, so you may want to stick that in there too.

And then there's the cool blue plate... well, you know where I'm going to say to stick that, don't you? Don't you? IN THE BOX, SILLY! With all the other stuff you're sending me!

ROFLMAO @ the cookbook! I've seen that before but was affraid to buy it for a swap. I love it. That plate is very cool. Linda you are another very talented member here. Waffle/muffin mix sounds good too. I'll be awaiting a recipe from the b!tch cookbook...LOL! Enjoy Jessy!

OMG, I'm feeling very humbled by the awesome talent of people on this Forum. That plate is just incredibly beautiful...I LOVE the color.

The rest is wonderful as well...but, gosh that plate is beautiful.
