Jaymielo: very nice stairway - love all the wood. May I ask what the color of your walls are? We are looking for a color that seems close (at least on the computer) to what we are looking for. Thanks!

kulagal, Thank you. The color is SW Humble Gold. It is VERY close to SW Blonde, which is a very popular color. Just a tish more yellow and a tish less brown. The color really changes with the time of day and against the stained woodwork, but I'm very happy with how it turned out. I have the decorating forum to thank for pointing me towards the color.

I love how our stairs turned out. They're quite rustic though, so only suitable for certian houses.

The stairs of my picture lead to the basement since we had a ranch.

What kind of setup do you have sallen? Is this stairway off to the side as you enter? Straight ahead and a focal point? In the back of the house? My friends have a rather large, gorgeous house and they have a beautiful split staircase masterpiece. It's more like art..LOL! Mine is just off to the side and not a focal point but I like how it turned out.

lindybrats, the house plan is attached (I have posted it several times before). It is not a large house, so it will have to be a somewhat simple design. If you look at the floor plan we have changed the house to have a double front door where the staircase is shown. The staircase will begin in front of the double doors and the contractor hopes to curve the stairway, add a landing and then end up on the second floor. My contractor built his own stairway similar to how he envisions the one he wants to build for my house. Color, metal, wood, painted, etc. is what I will have to select....something I am not sure of. So, I really appreciate the pictures! I loved the accents that huntsville has on her stairway in the New Pictures: Almost done forum....but her house is much larger and they may overwhelm my small house??? Suggestions??? Keep the pictures coming! Thanks!

Beautiful and very different! Do most hardware stores carry the iron works on the railing? Is there a better place to located them?

No - these were custom made by a metal worker (?) here that our builder had worked with in the past.

jamielo, I love the turn that your stairs take and especially love the large window at the half-way point. So many times stairways can be a dark place but yours is not at all.

Nessie, Thank you for the compliment. I'm really happy with the way they have turned out. The stairs to the basement aren't nearly as light filled as they are nestled right under this set. ;-)
