I just came across a major yahoo email problem.

While using Yahoo mail (on Firefox), I found all of my "reply to" email attempts resulted instead in a page serving from "js.worthathousandwords.com". This would get in the way of the reply emails, every time, and hang, so that I couldn't see my reply pages.

I managed to resolve it by adding a filter to Firefox's AdBlocker Plus. I named the filter *.worthathousandwords.com and it seemed to take care of it. Don;t know if yahoo is the source of this treachery, but just letting everybody know.

They are aware of the problem. It only affects Firefox and not Internet Explorer. Here's what it says on the worthathousandwords.com webpage:

There is no problem if you use an IE browser to read Yahoo Mail.
Also a temporary solution is to disable Java Script in Firefox.

We apologize for the problem, it is not intentional.
We have contacted Yahoo and are trying to fix the issue with Firefox as quickly as possible.

Thanks. That wasn't there when I checked their webpage earlier.

enmarene, I don't mind the sidebar ads, but pop ups and flashing ads are indeed, annoying. In fact, when a site uses that sort of advertisement, two things happen for me - I stop using that site, and I make note of who is advertising, so I don't buy their things. I find it very bothersome, and annoying. I appreciate very much that this is a free site for users, supported by advertising. Which is why we get to use Garden Web. But, there is a way to advertise that is not annoying and offensive to the site's users. I am very glad GW is monitoring their forum users' opinions, and have done away with those pop ups and flashing ads. Well done, GW. Patty S.

I hate to ADD to this thread...but clarification is in order: -First of all, this thread would be perfect for the Hot Topics Forum...but "it dont fit" in Hot Peppers or Hydroponics. -"Troll" is not a comment on one's appearance/stature/etc: In Internet terminology, a troll is someone who intentionally posts derogatory or otherwise inflammatory messages about sensitive topics in an established online community such as an online discussion forum to bait users into responding (Wikipedia) -Posting the identical off-topic message to multiple groups is typical troll behavior. "The really do want to close this place down don't they. patti" Those pop-up adds pay I-village to advertise here. Servers and/or server space isn't exactly cheap or free. I would say they really want to keep the site up and running, without having to charge the users/members. Many times previously, others have suggested installing a pop-up blocker.
