what????? what is this new ad that pops up???

It takes over the entire page everytime you click on a post to read or click on it to post or when you change back.

You have to X it out to get back to what you were reading.

The really do want to close this place down don't they.

Just use a pop-up blocker.

Yes it seems to be free according to the Majorgeeks download site. Perhaps Lavasoft have been badly stung by so many removing AdAware for the newer programs which appear more efficient. In their business you need to be among the leaders, second best does not cut it. The Lavasoft site is offering three versions though including the free one. Glad we were able to help Archie, nice work getting it cleaned off. Thank you Randy. I suspect all who offer assistance to those in trouble get as much satisfaction as I do when someone reports back that the problem has been solved. Probably 30 years ago I took a basic electricity course taught by an electrical engineer. One of the class asked him why he wasted his time teaching us as it was obvious it was not the money. He replied that he got as much satisfaction as we did we did. Because he worked in a narrow field and was afraid of getting rusty in areas outside his job. The class asked questions and he needed to have the answers. I feel that way about helping with computers, it keeps me on my toes and as I age I find my memory is not as good as it once was.

They are aware of the problem. It only affects Firefox and not Internet Explorer. Here's what it says on the worthathousandwords.com webpage: QUOTE We are aware of a problem with Firefox and Yahoo Mail. There is no problem if you use an IE browser to read Yahoo Mail. Also a temporary solution is to disable Java Script in Firefox. We apologize for the problem, it is not intentional. Those pop-up adds pay I-village to advertise here. Servers and/or server space isn't exactly cheap or free. I would say they really want to keep the site up and running, without having to charge the users/members. Many times previously, others have suggested installing a pop-up blocker. Those of us not seeing all the pop-up adds can attest they do work.

I too am another one that is never bothered by any ads here at GW. Whatever I have is doing a really good job of blocking stuff.

Took the advice long ago about blocking them. There is no reason not to block them.

Chemo, if I saw the same ad as Pattico, it is very obnoxious, keeps popping up and you cannot even post a reply here. Even when you X it, it comes back. I finally had to shut down my computer. Pop-up blocker was ON. This was not a normal pop-up.

the instructions for using firefox with adblock plus and easylist have been put up here many times, I have done them myself several times. With those in place there will be no ads and any that do show up can be blocked with one click. All free.
