Christa Pike botched execution

Is this case something you've heard about in your area? Has it made national news?
For the record, I'm against the death penalty for moral and religious reasons. You can't reverse it if you've got the wrong person, and revenge is up to God, in my opinion. Just a couple of MY reasons. Also, she and her boyfriend, who were in their late teens, lured a girl into the woods and bludgeoned her to death; Ms Pike carried around a piece of her skull showing it off. She feared and objected to being injected because she knew her veins would be problematic.

All of that is to set up the question. She was injected twice, found to be brain dead, woke up and is coherent. Should they continue trying?
This article hits the high points, you can also ponder.

Never mind national news. It's international news. It's all over the media here. Indeed the proposed execution itself was at the top of our news for some time before the scheduled date. The persistence of capital punishment is news in itself here.

I am sad that our country still engages in such a barbaric ritual ascapital punishment.

Yes, all over the news. No idea what will happen now; maybe life w/o parole. She did commit a horrific crime.

Sadly, it's all over the news here and so disgusting I have to change the channel. Death by injection is supposed to be the humane way to execute criminals, these people were idiots, a veterinarian could have done a better job. It's not the first time this has occurred, hope it's the last.

The original crime was horrific. We as a civilized society should perform better than horrific. We don’t have to excuse the crime but we should endeavor to understand the person and attempt to heal even within permanent incarceration.

I’ve long thought that losing one’s personal freedom is a much harsher punishment than execution. Of course, I’m not thinking about the amenities & small freedoms allowed while incarcerated. Murder of another should mean all loss of freedom to socialize and mingle with others, read or watch TV etc etc.
