Pop-up ad removed ! ! !

Owbist, you were right with the link 'seemingly the cure.' After reading what the person posted, it was exactly what I had. My antivirus must of removed just the virus and left the pop-up behind.

I download the programs they said to and followed their how to instructions. The instructions had a few extra steps that didn't show up, but with common sense I figured out how to get to the next step with no problems.

The only problem was the last step of going to the online scan and using it. My antivirus kept finding a worm attached with the download of their controls. I noticed that the pop-up down in the tray was gone and didn't see it, so I didn't do that step.

Glad we were able to help Archie, nice work getting it cleaned off.

Thank you Randy. I suspect all who offer assistance to those in trouble get as much satisfaction as I do when someone reports back that the problem has been solved.

Probably 30 years ago I took a basic electricity course taught by an electrical engineer. One of the class asked him why he wasted his time teaching us as it was obvious it was not the money. He replied that he got as much satisfaction as we did we did. Because he worked in a narrow field and was afraid of getting rusty in areas outside his job. The class asked questions and he needed to have the answers. I feel that way about helping with computers, it keeps me on my toes and as I age I find my memory is not as good as it once was.

I am not getting any pop up ads at all..... Maybe you need to turn a pop-up blocker on your browser? Do you use IE or Netscape or another browser? All have the option of blocking pop-ups. Please find a way to eliminate the pop-ups, we don't want you to leave because of them. Take a look at the COmputer Help Forum, there are lots of possible solutions and if you don't see one that fits your particular set-up the folks there are really smart and happy to help! oldhousegal, I commend you. I'd love to be living that way - as they say "every journey begins with a single step". I found a website created by a grad student from Singapore who is studying "food perceptions" of all things. This entire website is dedicated to unraveling the "great pine nut mystery" (don't you love the internet!). Here is a picture of pine nuts. "S" is apparently what you want. "A" is what you don't want. Similar in size.. posting another pic below which is a close up of "A". close up on PNS (pine nut syndrome) inducing pine nut Funny... Target house brand of pine nuts has only had one reported case of PNS but Trader Joe's has had 69 cases.... maybe I'm not ready to give up on Target yet (maybe I am still being naive to believe everything I read on the internet.... looks pretty credible to me though - will link the website below). Question ... does ANYONE like, enjoy, or find the pop-ups to be at all useful? Has anyone ever clicked on one of the pop-ups to get further information from the advertiser? My guess is NO. I understand the need for advertising, but I hope to heck those who purchase the pop-up space are paying through the nose. As I scroll down a thread, there is tons of available white space in the margins for ads. Why are they not utilizing that space first? I guess if you can annoy the bejeebers out of your patrons and they keep coming back, there is not much incentive to accomodate their wishes. We get GW for free, but we are going to pay in other ways.
