Check the connection where the hose enters the sink drain. Both hose ends should be parallel to the floor, not stacked one on top of the other. Don't take it off if its not, you should be able to gently twist it near the drain, not the hose end. You might try taking the whole drain thing apart and cleaning it. First pump the water out. If you turn on the drawer, the first bit of noise is it pumping the water out - so turn it on, let that sorta grinding noise happen and turn it off. The take out the racks, the blade, the filter, the ring that holds the filter plate, the filter plate, the ring that holds the motor and lift the motor. Remove all the water with a sponge and also any soggy bits of stuff. Rinse the other stuff out in the sink. Reassemble. Clean the dishwasher guts by running an empty rinse cycle and throw in some tang or a little lemonade mix or something else that contains citric acid into the bottom first.

OOOh! That's new! I'd go with the 24"er though. The cabinetry issue. The replacement. Never buy the first year model as they say in the car business--especially when you can't replace it with another model because it's an odd size. The single 24" drawer should be plenty for day-to-day use, especially if you get a tall one. Every week or so have the spouse throw a roasting pan in the bottom drawer.

Oh dadoes, I just saw your comment. I did get the specs and the DD requires 23 5/8" for the inner cavity. I've talked with a contractor who will be bidding on my kitchen facelift. He thinks I'll need to use a 27" cabinet. The walls of a 24" only leave 22.5" internal cavity and the cutout for the doors is only 21" wide. So, it looks like we'll be going with a 27" cabinet. I looked at the installation manual for the double DD, which does not require a cabinet. It just slides in between two cabinets, so there are no side walls or door/drawer cutouts to contend with. I still have to figure out what is the maximum sink depth, w/drain, that we can use to fit into the space above the DD. Any thoughts on that?

Ron Natalie, I am sorry you had such a bad experience with your dish drawers. I hope you found something you like better. I have had a very different experience with them. I had my previous ones that I replaced for nearly 15 years and never had a service call on them. I only replaced them because they were white and I got new stainless steel appliances when I did some renovations to my kitchen. Otherwise I would have kept them. The new one is working great and the water softener feature is also great as it eliminates any spotting from slightly hard water. My previous ones did not have that feature. I like the dish drawers for many reasons but just to name a few: I live alone and can run the smaller loads without it seeming wasteful, I have a bad back and don't have to bend over to load and unload, I can alternate using them and keep clean dishes in the one I am not using (in a small kitchen this allows a little extra storage). Having had no need to call upon them, I have not had any experience with FP service. Only time is recently, the toe kick was left out of my new one when it was shipped and I contacted FP and I had it here in 2 days so they were very responsive. I do think, however, that the place where I bought them this time is not that familiar with them and that is why I am having trouble getting this sensor thing installed properly. They did the install and also do service so they are the ones trying to get the sensor working. I realize this is the first time the knock to pause sensor feature has been used on the integrated panel model. It may turn out to be a design flaw, but hopefully I will have the same experience with this set of dish drawers that I had with my previous one. Anyone with experience with the knock to pause sensors, I would love to hear from you.
