I can't stand them! I planted zucchini the last two years and did not get a SINGLE veggie off the plants due to squash vine borers killing them off! Last year I tried cutting the disgusting borer out of the plants (found that tip on a website) but they still died. I really need some advice here! I love zucchini and I hear about people getting these amazing crops of zucchini but mine just gets killed...
I thought I heard somewhere that you can cover the zucchini stems with something (tinfoil maybe?) that will prevent the moth from laying its eggs on the stem but I am not sure if that really works??
Also has anyone tried Grub-Away nematodes and do they work?
Does Sevin work, and how often/when does it need to be sprayed? I would rather avoid chemical pesticides if possible but I'd consider it as a last resort...
I REALLY want fresh zucchini but I just don't know how to get rid of these nasty pests!
