dtd - Aha! our emails crossed. I have no experience posting to blogs, but willing to learn, am comfortable with basic html. Familiarizing myself with Blogspot, questions:

This a so-called team blog?
One can actually edit previous posts unlike GW?
Ability to post a "thread" (still learning terminology, what Blogspot seems to call a "post") is restricted to those authorized, but anyone may add a Comment?

An idea for organizing in chronological order by month from early days of computer programing: list numerically in year-month-day format. One needs to be consistent as to number of digits, e.g., 07-02-06 or 2007-02-06 for February 6, 2007, but then an alpha-numeric sort puts things in the desired order.

Saw something on Blogspot Help, Settings, about formats of dates in both Headers and Archive Index which may prove helpful as well. Will check it out as part of the learning curve.

Suggestions for which topics to study first? Ideas how we might best collaborate?

Great, Ana/Nan - I've also recruited (well, begged!) Katy, and would love to have others join. I notice that Claire and Martie often have suggestions for events, hint hint. We can also add members as time goes on, but anyone with ideas about how the site should be organized might want to speak up sooner than later.

The numeric sort works in many kinds of programming cases, but probably not on blogspot - the posts are all sorted by creation date, not title, with newest at the top. Editing a post doesn't move it out of its order. I did find some complicated info on changing the order of posts, but it was technical enough that I thought it would be easier to just wing it.

So, I think the best way to get the months in order is to start with blank posts for each month of 2007; creating December, then November, etc up to Jan. We can leave the empty ones as drafts (or they might have to have *some* text in them, like "coming soon" to even be saved as drafts) so they won't clutter up the main page; drafts won't actually appear on the page that lists the posts.

It's been such a beautiful day that I haven't been able to work on this, but crummy weather is returning so ...

The calendar is finally starting to look like it may turn into something useful!

I went googling this evening and found some GREAT events, which I added - like a Fergus Garret talk in Great Barrington, a design workshop at Blithewold ... Yikes, I may survive the winter after all.
