Get inspired by 350 exhibitors showcasing the latest innovative products and services at Canada’s largest national design expo and conference, IIDEX/NeoCon. During two action-packed days, more than 15,000 interior designers, architects, facility managers, real estate and business executives will come together offering plenty of networking opportunities from all areas of design – workplace, hospitality, retail, healthcare, lighting and sustainable design.
Talks include an architecture keynote by Matthias Sauerbruch, a hospitality keynote on the "Evolution of Hotel Design" and a design keynote by Dominique Jakob and Brendan MacFarlane. You’ll also have the chance to attend the CEU accredited international conference program, product previews, tours and seminars.

Postmodernism: Style and Subversion 1970-1990
V&A Museum

The V&A’s major autumn exhibition will be the first in-depth survey of art, design and architecture of the 1970s and 1980s, featuring over 250 objects. Postmodernism will examine one of the most contentious phenomena in recent art and design history, and how it evolved from a provocative architectural movement in the early 1970s and rapidly went on to influence all areas of popular culture including art, film, music, graphics and fashion.
While you're at the V&A be sure and check out the London Design Festival displays and installations, such as 'Timber Wave' by Amanda Levete Architects at the Cromwell Road Entrance.

There seems to be a European design festival tour happening, with a host of festivals, biennales, triennales happening. Among these is the fifth annual Vienna Design Week. Get inspired during the ten-day festival which will turn all of Vienna into a showroom for the latest in product, industrial, and furniture design. Attend exhibitions, installations, talks and the highlight, “Paths of Passion” where selected designers are invited to collaborate and work with businesses and manufacturers who bring their ideas to life.

If you happen to be in the nation’s capital the first of October, check out the 8th annual Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair, where some of the country’s talented independent artists will exhibit and sell their handmade goods. Presented by the Washington City Paper, the fair is all-day outdoor free event to attend. All the artists are handpicked by a select jury for their DIY chops, and so their unique items on display reflect that. There'll be surprises at every booth including reconstructed clothing, punk-rock baby clothes, handcrafted jewelry, plush toys, screen-printing, such as the print above by Brooklyn-based Claudia Pearson, and more.
Other highlights include: Young & Crafty, featuring the work of young artists between the ages of 9-18, Food Craft, celebrating the burgeoning DIY food movement, a DIY Salon, hosting the area's best culinary talent as they teach craft food techniques, a Crafty Food Market displaying and serving great artisanal food, and Crafty Food Awards, crowning the city’s best food crafters.

Explore the life behind the master magician Harry Houdini (1874-1926) in the first American art museum art exhibition, Houdini: Art and Magic, exploring the transformation of this legendary performer across three centuries. The exhibition includes more than 160 objects including magic apparatus, a recreation of the famous Water Torture Cell, historic photographs, dramatic Art Nouveau-era posters, two of Houdini’s private diaries (never shown before in a public exhibition) and archival and silent films that allow you to fully explore the career and legacy of the celebrated entertainer. With a talent for self-promotion and provocation, this immigrant son of a poor Hungarian rabbi rocketed to international fame and grabbed headlines with his gripping theatrical presentations and heart-stopping outdoor spectacles.
