Windfall apples froze - may I use them for chutney?

I am new to canning and am planning to make apple/fig chutney. However, it snowed yesterday and I'm wondering if it would still be alright to use the apples after the freezing temperatures. My husband thinks that because the recipe is for chutney the texture of the previously frozen apples won't be a problem, but that the taste of the chutney might not be very good as the apples will have lost quite a bit of flavour in the freezing. Anyone able to help with this? Thank you, Amyjean
