How do you store your oils when using them?
Comments (7)I had a toasted sesame oil go rancid in the fridge since so little is needed for a dish or dressing. I but the smallest container for the less used oils. I now date them on top with a sharpee as i do spices and baking powder. Coconut oil has a very long shelf life and not needed to fridge. When warmed i mix it with other oils to make it pourable for some cooking and also for body lotion in small batches. So yes, keep your specialty oils in the fridge in their original containers. I've had this bottle and spout for probably 6 yrs. Re-fill often so it sits out like Annie for drizzling and dressings. (costco has a great organic evoo). And it goes through the dishwasher spout and all. I recently purchased a vinegar that came with a spout and the spout was garbage. Did not stay on and made a mess. This spout came in a 3pack and the others are still in the misc. drawer not yet needed so it is a quality one. (last night was pizza night, yummy)...See MoreRECIPE: How do you store your recipes?
Comments (17)I am like OldFixer - I have recipes on index cards, printed off from my printer, in folders, binders, etc.! I am so thankful for Pinterest now and have recipes saved on that board in categories. But many years ago before Pinterest I decided that it was too time consuming to type out all my recipes to do an on-line cookbook, so I just sorted the newspaper clipping, written recipes, etc. by category and put them in a large 10 x 13-inch and just wrote the category on the envelope - they are stored in a file cabinet. So if I want a particular "zucchini" recipe, I only have to search that envelope. Appetizers, salads, crock pot, meat dishes, rhubarb recipes, vegetables, etc. But if I am having a holiday dinner such as Thanksgiving, I started a 3-ring binder and put all the recipes I have ever used for that holiday dinner whether it be appetizers, the turkey, side dishes and desserts, and then add a page with the year and menu we had. I use page protectors in that binder and refer to it every year....See MoreHow do you store your rulers?
Comments (15)Right now, I have a bookcase next to my sewing table, and I hang my rulers on the side of it on small nails. When I get my cutting table, I'll hang them on the wall above it on nails. I hange the larger ones (6x6, and up) by themselves, the smaller ones, I hang 2 or 3 on a nail. I have also labeled some of mine with a white sticker and the size (to one side so I don't block the center line) if the size isn't printed large enough for me to see. Those cool tools I got, I just stuck them in a round votive cup that sits in the middle of my bobbin saver on my sewing table.(too bad those don't have hanging holes!)Hmm, might have to have hubby drill some holes. Woodsy...See MoreHow/where do you store your clothing?
Comments (8)It's just the two of us, and although we have a (smallish) walk-in master closet, I have some things hanging in another closet. Many things hang other than my yard/exercise type clothing, lingerie and pjs/gowns, undies, etc. We have drawers in the master closet and also a dresser in the bedroom for folded items. Sweaters are not hung either, they are in drawers. I like things ironed and I don't mind ironing. I usually do as needed. I like shirt sleeves and my husband's cotton pants "creased". We do have a good bit of clothing that doesn't need ironing though. "Dress-up" clothing such as suits, dresses, etc. are most often dry cleaned and I keep them covered, hanging in another bedroom closet. Thankfully those aren't used/needed much! haha!...See Morepattypan
