Thank you for featuring us in your artical. This photo has brought in so much attention. The bamboo "rod" is one that we fabricated from real bamboo. We started making bamboo planters and will feature as soon as they are complete. The nice thing about bamboo is how stronge it is. I have never had a bug problem. All of our products are sprayed and sealed. Of course I imagine the mositure on an island would be a challenge. Try spraying and sealing with a clear coat of varnish.

I was wondering how to make these bamboo curtain rods and how to hang them. I live in the islands too. Looks like maybe I could just use brackets but then the curtains would have to be pole top as opposed to rings.

You are correct. L brackets are customized according to the size of bamboo. As you know it comes in all sizes. I pinch pleated the header and used special hooks my husband created so it would be hidden. Experiment and try different ways. Good luck.
