Fold some paper towel to ring around the neck of the bottle, rubber band the paper ring.

The ring will prevent the oil from dripping down and make a mess.

I keep them in the original bottle. I refrigerate most oils until I open the bottle. And I store sesame oils in the fridge.

Most oils will quickly go off and rancid if not used quickly. I refrigerate also except for the most used ev olive oil. You just need some decent spouts. They are universal and will fit a favorite glass container. I got mine at a restaurant supply but this one from Amazon has good reviews. Wash in the dishwasher between fillings.

I buy olive oil in large cans at the Mediterranean grocery and then decant them into a nice bottle which was a gift from Linda (doucanoe) during one of our forum get togethers. It has a good spout and does not leak, and it sits nicely convenient for when I want to drizzle vegetables for roasting or add a bit to hummus. I put it in the dishwasher between uses, and the spout goes in there too. The big container is too unwieldy and heavy for pouring.

Sesame oil and some other specialty oils are kept in the refrigerator as I don't use that much of them and they can go off before I can use them up. My latest bottle of toasted sesame oil came in a plastic bottle with a flip top. I always have to wipe the oil off the bottle when I use it.

I had a toasted sesame oil go rancid in the fridge since so little is needed for a dish or dressing. I but the smallest container for the less used oils. I now date them on top with a sharpee as i do spices and baking powder. Coconut oil has a very long shelf life and not needed to fridge. When warmed i mix it with other oils to make it pourable for some cooking and also for body lotion in small batches. So yes, keep your specialty oils in the fridge in their original containers.

I've had this bottle and spout for probably 6 yrs. Re-fill often so it sits out like Annie for drizzling and dressings. (costco has a great organic evoo). And it goes through the dishwasher spout and all. I recently purchased a vinegar that came with a spout and the spout was garbage. Did not stay on and made a mess. This spout came in a 3pack and the others are still in the misc. drawer not yet needed so it is a quality one.

Just to be smart alecky and say I don't store them when I'm using them, only when I'm not using them.

I keep most of my oils in the fridge, except olive oil, which I use up quickly enough to not need to store. I did have walnut oil go rancid on my simply because I never used it. It was one of those things that it seemed like every recipe I came across called for walnut oil until I got around to buying some, then I didn't see any recipes with walnut oil, and forgot I had it.

ssleevendog, that's the kind of containers I used for my oils. The plastic spout kept coming out, or the little "lid" that covered the spout broke off. I don't like the spout being open to the air.

I thought the plastic bottles would be perfect, but maybe it's the best I can do.
