How do you store your bed pillows when not in use?

We recently bought a new home, and I am getting so many ideas from all of you! I just bought a new bedroom suite (sleigh bed), dark wood (cherry, I think). Also purchased a new bedding set with lots of pillows. My question is, how do you store your bed pillows when not in use? My bed rarely gets made up since my husband works night and I work days.

I found a wicker trunk at a flea market which I could paint and maybe put at the end of the bed, but I'm not sure whether wicker would look right. It was a steal for only $35.00, though! Size-wise I think it would work, since the trunk was pretty large, I just don't know about mixing the wicker with the cherry wood.

I don't want to end up piling my brand new stuff on the floor. Any ideas?

I pile mine on my reading chair in the reading corner of the room.

I am thinking white wicker would not work, as it has a very light feel and the cherry wood sleigh bed has a very heavy look.. But maybe if the wicker is white you could paint it..If it is darker wicker it would work, depending on the rest of your decor>

:) currently? half of it's in boxes and crates int he attic- and the other half's in bins in the basement. setting up a crafting area was the first thing that I WANTED to do- but DH convinced me that clearing a place to sleep, eat, hangout, and brush our teeth would be more cost-efficient, workwise. however- in my last incarnation, I had a workstation made out of a hollow core door on two bookcases (the very first drafting table my dad ever built when he got his license, I might add) and three steamer trunks to hold raw materials. it was cramped, but I managed- and I did truely messy things outside. now- I have plans for a wash sink in the basement, so I can do my tie-dying indoors!

No, but I have to hitch a hip up to get in just a bit. We have a CA king water bed with a temper pedic mattress and foundation on it. In the motor home, the base is high, higher than the bed in the house. I get in the same way, just hitch a bit higher! But if we can't put the side slide out, I have to use the stool to get up on it from the foot of the bed, because there is about 2" between the bed and the closet with the slide closed. When we had the water bed mattress, I had my hystorectomy and DH had to cut down the side of the bed for me to get in and out by myself. I couldn't roll out like I used to due to the incision. He worked night shift, so for him to be able to go back to work after a week home with me, I had to be able to do it without help. Tami

deco...I don't want to call grandma...I want to sew with her (or drink fluffy coffee as my grandma used to call it). Sue all that silk belongs in a crazy quilt missie...and have you ever made a quilt with a serger? SOOOO much easier, especially with silk. If you sew with silk at all woman you need to figure out the serger...can you say "no more fringed and frazzled edges?" Pecan...I didn't sew until ohhh five or so years ago when I made my DH (not DH then) a bunch of silk pillows for his couch (he couldn't find any that worked with it). I had a bunch of scraps and thought I'd "whip" out a crazy quilt for nothing...about a grand later...he had a beautiful quilt, and I was hooked. The great thing I now know is that I can buy silk on sale and save the scraps and make ooddles of quilts for so much less that that first quilt cost me! Those scraps of yours would be a gorgeous quilt I'd bet :oP When our house is all said and done I'm going to make a crazy quilt for our bed out of all the silks, satins and linen I'm using on drapes and for bedding. I will do that for every house we do as a memory of that home to take with us to the next. DS will have the nicest bed in the dorm room in college LOL

Oooh, AnnaC54 and Poohpup, your pooches are perfectly adorable! LOL that they keep their bowls to remind you it's dinner time. Ours doesn't bring his bowl to us, rather he summons us to him lol. He gives a bark and waits there until we get his message: cal_quail, like annkh I totally can't relate to a picky eater. Our dog eats almost anything including some of his absolute favorites which are raw brocolli stalk slices and raw brussels sprouts. His absolute favorites are broccoli, cantaloupe, apples, pears and cauliflower. For your picky eater, could mixing in a few thin slices of fruit or veggies help? Just a thought. Bellsmom, love your setup too. One last pic of Hemi when he was a pup (in our previous home's kitchen). Man, now I want another puppy, they are so cute at that age when they are all head and paws. Anyway, this is proof that he's definitely not a picky eater, haha.

I guess I should add that my walls are neutral colors, a shade of green. My bedding is brown, green and gold.

I put the shams and a Euro on top of a steamer trunk. The trunk used to be at the foot of the bed, but in this house it's on the opposite wall, facing the door.

If the wicker is already medium to dark in color, leave it as is. Otherwise, paint it an espresso color. You could place it at the end of the bed or in the closet. I asked this very question several months ago and it seems most people do not have a good place to store pillows. I would like to get a tall square wicker container with a cover and keep that in the closet for pillows. I have not found one yet.

I've already told my husband I want to go get the chest after work! I can't resist it for just $35!! I think espresso would be a good color, too.

Have you tried flea markets? We have one near here and I love it! I go a lot during my lunch hour and seem to always find something!

We have an entertainment armoire, and there's enough room for our pillows in there. Only time we've ever had a decent solution!

Can you return the extra pillows?

Seems silly that you bought all those pillows, when you never make the bed....

I'm with artlover, mine end up on the floor. A neat pile on the floor but the floor nevertheless. My advice, get what you feel get comfortable.

Yep, we kept a corner clear for pillow piling, too. :)
