Fireplace surround in bedroom

We are considering options for our bedroom fireplace. There is beadboard wainscotting around the room, and crown moulding. If we end up going the DIY route, we'd like to not have to rip off wainscotting on abutting walls to cut trim to new angles and such. The room is now navy.

Options on the table are: 1) white/grey stone surround 2) porcelain (marble-look) wall slab or 3) woodworking. We're probably have to hire 1 & 2 out, which makes #3 more appealing. I recently found a photo of someone who basically did woodwork on the front only, and painted the sides/around the corner of the front - but probably something really simple, without tile or stone surround (see photo 2 below): https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwirrcCL3KHiAhVDMHwKHcqiCccQjRx6BAgBEAU&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pinterest.com%2Fpin%2F147774431494970967%2F&psig=AOvVaw0TplmmYCzrE_MYiaHcTKUC&ust=1558153452606442
